How do yo beta test your apps for iOS and Android?

Welcome to our brand new Clickteam Community Hub! We hope you will enjoy using the new features, which we will be further expanding in the coming months.

A few features including Passport are unavailable initially whilst we monitor stability of the new platform, we hope to bring these online very soon. Small issues will crop up following the import from our old system, including some message formatting, translation accuracy and other things.

Thank you for your patience whilst we've worked on this and we look forward to more exciting community developments soon!

  • This is one area I have been neglecting I feel. I never really test my apps besides doing it myself before releasing them in the store. The result is that there are always some bugs that I have not noticed that I need to fix. How do you guys handle this? And is there some smooth ways to handle testing? Maybe create a clicker group for beta testing each others apps before release or give feedback during development? I am a member in a group over at FGL that does this for Flash games and it has really made a big difference in the quality of our games. Maybe a similar group here could be very useful.

  • I think that's an awesome idea to have a beta testing/feedback circle for fellow clickers. Unsure how it works on IOS but on play store you can invite people to beta test via their email. I havent tried it though, im unsure whether each app you submit you'd have to invite everyone? Or whether you can set up an overall group that effects all apps etc.

It would also be great for feedback and ideas to improve our projects.

  • You could run some web services on a home or a hosted server dedicated for private bug tracking and to distribute new betas.

I haven't ran any of these web services live since I don't have any public projects, but I'd probably go down this route to ensure beta users get the latest content to test in one place.

Here's some free, open source web software you could use:

With Android, you can distribute APKs very easily.
With iOS... no idea, but it'll probably have to be through Apple and might need a special developer license (that business could use) to restrict it's distribution (like it was a internal business app)

  • I know there was some mention on iTunes Connect recently about beta testing with TestFlight, maybe that would be the easiest way for both android and iOS?
