Do people use android devices for music? If so how is game handled?

Welcome to our brand new Clickteam Community Hub! We hope you will enjoy using the new features, which we will be further expanding in the coming months.

A few features including Passport are unavailable initially whilst we monitor stability of the new platform, we hope to bring these online very soon. Small issues will crop up following the import from our old system, including some message formatting, translation accuracy and other things.

Thank you for your patience whilst we've worked on this and we look forward to more exciting community developments soon!

  • I know almost all games on iOS have some way of detecting if the user is listening to music or a podcast and makes sure to not stop that music but instead mute the game.
How is this handled on the Android? Is there a similar feature, and if so how do you activate it? Or do peopel simply not use their androids for musics like people do with iOS devices?..

  • If there is no difference in usage, then there is no native support for what you are asking for in the MMF exporters. This feature has been a request since the beginning with iOS exporter and it would be great if it was simply added to Android as well. It is a simple flag in iOS, but one can only speculate if it is so simple in Android. I would check if it is in the feature request section of the bug tracker and add it if no one else has already.

Basically, we need a "Is music playing from an external app" condition.

  • Personally i don't listen to music whilst playing games, nor do i see the point? IMO it ruins the atmosphere and experience of the game.
Can't you just have a mute button on the main screen to turn off music for the game? Or does the application automatically prevent any other music being played by the user?

  • There are plenty of games where you either don't need to hear the music or the music gets on your nerves over time. Puzzle games especially. The way the current exporters work is that they automatically disable any music apps that may have been playing when you start the MMF app. This is something that can be disabled, but MMF doesn't yet give us this option.

I always listen to podcasts when not doing important stuff. That also includes when playing mobile games.

I don't think I have ever seen an example of a non Fusion game that does not allow you to do this so I get the impression it is automatic on most engines? Even simple flappy clones lets me still liten to my podcasts while playing. Maybe it would be possible to adjust the runtimes so this would be the default way they are handled? It is just very annoying for users when their music or podcast stops because they start a game. If you really want that to happen you will stop it yourself.
