    REAL-TIME 24 HOUR CLOCK!

    - coupled with a 24 hour real-time clock where time in the game passes just as it does in the real world!
For example, if you are playing Rock Rock Rocket after work at 5:58pm, it’ll also be 5:58pm in the game,
the planet’s sun will be setting, and new enemies and events are beginning to emerge under the cover of night.
Or, 2 days after placing that weird space egg that you found in that weird space cave
onto a shelf in your spaceship, you notice that it is now beginning to hatch!

There will be some events and quests that span over a few real-time days,
and the main plot of our hero will actually play out over the course of about a month.

    STYLISED RETRO FIRST PERSON SHOOTER!

It's like Nintendo’s Animal Crossing, but with lasers!
And it's all experienced from within a stylised retro, first-person perspective,
that harkens back to the 2d/3d hybrid DOS games of old, but, with shooting mechanics and gameplay reminiscent
of contemporary classics like Metroid Prime, and the Halo series.

SILKY SMOOTH CONTROLS, ALL AT 60 FRAMES A SECOND!

Here’s a further taste of the sort of things I aim to incorporate :

    • A gripping Sci-Fi Survival Storyline with events that unfold over days, and weeks in real time
    • A heap of weapons and abilities to unlock
    • Multiple areas and zones, and day/night cycle with weather that changes up gameplay
    • Various Random Side events that pop up during each session.
    • A repairable, upgradeable Rocket ship that functions as your base of operations
    • Complete Research Sample Collections: discover and catalogue alien wildlife, plants and minerals
    • A whole range of space creatures, and enemies, to find and fight.

Please login to see this attachment.

Rock Rock Rocket will be a game that constantly has something new to discover, and is ever-changing day to day.
It’s a game that you can pick up and play for just 10 minutes to see what’s happening,
or to explore the cosmic wilderness for as long as you like, uncovering it’s mysteries at your own pace.

Thankyou, any questions don't hesitate to ask!

  • This looks amazing! And now I have a question: I know it's a first-person shooter and all, meaning it's likely that the answer I'm expecting is the actual answer, but is this going to have much/any blood? Since, if it has a lot of blood, then it's unlikely my parents will allow me to play the game (though I'll still hope it takes off, to be completely honest, and there are some games with blood (E.G. Metroid Prime Trilogy) that I am allowed to play). The reason I'm even bothering to ask at all is that, with how stylized the game is, it's less likely to have blood than a lot of other first-person shooters just based on that.

Also, for future reference, you actually posted in an acceptable area for what you were posting, but this is technically where this sort of post belongs: Please login to see this link.

My Please login to see this link. (which I actually use), my Please login to see this link. (which I mostly don't use), and my Please login to see this link. (which I don't use anymore pretty much at all really). If there are awards for "'highest number of long forum posts", then I'd have probably won at least 1 by now. XD

  • I'm going for a more cartoony/arcadey sort of vibe, so to answer your question, nope, I don't really plan to to put any blood in the game! And I don't really need to! I want to keep it flashy and colourful, because I'd like to cater to all different ages so everyone can play. So thanks for your question and enthusiasm happygreenfrog!

  • You're welcome, and thanks for answering the question (that's good to hear)! Just watched the video, and the game looks fantastic so far! Unfortunately, I don't have an iPhone (surprising, isn't it?), which does make me curious: At some point after the iOS release, is there any possibility of a Windows release? If not, what are the odds of an Android release?

And, lastly, this finally proves that CF2.5 CAN make 3D games, even if only stylized ones like this. :D

  • This looks very polished, obviously a lot of hard work has gone into this... very impressive. One potential issue i can see is the lack of terrain/obstacles. It could grow very tiresome very quickly if you're unable to hide behind stuff, jump over things, find secret passages, take cover or run away. I'd be interested to find out how you plan to keep things fresh in that regard.

  • While there aren't fully realised playable interior spaces, there are/will be obstacles in the form of large rocks/natural formations, and vehicles/planet machinery to explore around and take cover behind, as well as player-dropped laser shields and such. And I plan to have some large enclosed cave-themed zones to find and traverse as well.

  • Thanks guys! I think I might do a little Q and A, or breakdown of a few elements for you guys sometime soon. I've gathered some good knowledge about best practices for squeezing out power on iOS!

  • Well... Please login to see this link. Just twitted about it. I am really curious (probably SolarB as well) how some of the things were coded. KnP users are also impressed ;)

    End is near.

  • Haha you're fantastic! The real key involves lots of math and trigonometry, but there's also a strong element of illusion. If you think about it, it's really just pictures scaling and sliding!

  • I think it's pseudo-3d, and I think it's pseudo-3d without the perspective object, considering the fact that, last I remember, the perspective object was Windows-only. It's also definitely using math (and lots of it) to do scaling and positioning and such if it's pseudo-3d.
