Smooth Resizing Causing Coloured outlines and strange borders

Welcome to our brand new Clickteam Community Hub! We hope you will enjoy using the new features, which we will be further expanding in the coming months.

A few features including Passport are unavailable initially whilst we monitor stability of the new platform, we hope to bring these online very soon. Small issues will crop up following the import from our old system, including some message formatting, translation accuracy and other things.

Thank you for your patience whilst we've worked on this and we look forward to more exciting community developments soon!

Clickteam.
  • Hi Guys

I have seen so many topics about this but none effective solution or response from ClickTeam....
About Smooth resizing causing outlines on objects when the object itself or the screen is scaled.
This happens only with backdrops apparently! With active objects the borders are correct relative to image behind the Active Object!
But with backdrops, Smooth Resizing creates this stranges outlines "with transparent image color"

I posted pictures compared to other game "not created in fusion" who apparently has Smooth Resizing. And the result of it is natural and nice ...

  • I using Backdrop, not quick backdrop.
And still awaiting a response from lickteam.
For example, look at the bushes in the other picture, how smooth is the transition between the image and the scene behind

  • CT are kind of MIA on the Android exporter which is kind of sad to see. Do your images use alpha channels? Post an .MFA with some messed up graphics, I can't reproduce it on my end.

  • I not using alpha channels. I uploaded the .mfa with exemple.

    Buld API: 22
    Display: Fit Outside
    OpenGL 2.0
    My Devide: LG G3

Running on Windows runtime "Right Image with "Anti Aliasing When resizing" the effect is natural and nice. As it should be on Android "Left Image"

  • The colored issue is fixed in the next build (well, I had to use a gunmachine to kill that bug, hopefully Fernando or Anders will find a more elegant way...).

Though it seems in some cases there is a gap between backdrops, I'll ask Fernando as this issue had been marked as fixed in the previous build.

  • i am mainly noticed the problem with string objects, as you can see on this picture: Please login to see this link.

is this fixed? would love to get the update, but do it in a way that doesn't consume unnecessary resources please :)

Please login to see this link. =)

  • EDIT: I see what you mean, I'll check the strings.

The update won't be released before next week.

At the moment the current fix forces an alpha channel for all the images. It should be OK I think, but yes, if we can find another solution that would be better.

  • sometimes conveys the impression that the Clickteam "drowns" in many things at once and this causes delays.
For example, how much time there is a exporter for android? A couple of years? AND STILL have this colored outline bug, and some other performace issues..
Strange .. Is it really so complicated to fix these problems?

  • Sometimes it is pretty complicated, actually. Did you know that, from what I remember, a pretty huge chunk of the exporter (I think it may have been the rendering code) was re-wrote entirely during the beta-test to improve performance, and that it took a really long while from what I recall? I participated in the beta, ya know, so I can tell you right now that the performance and bugs could have been, and, during the beta, actually were, far, far worse than the release version (crashes everywhere, major bugs, things like that).

That being said, I personally haven't had too many issues with the Android exporters performance since its release. Sure, I can see that it has limits with how many objects you can have before it becomes laggy, but I personally just design my games with the limits of the Android exporter in mind when I want to release them on Android. And no, I haven't used the iOS exporter, so I don't know how the performance of that compares, though I've heard that it's better than the Android exporter.

And now my brain kinda feels like not thinking of anything at all right now (I woke up pretty late, at around 10:00 AM (it's around 10:30 AM where I am as of now), so that's probably because I'm still a little tired, which also means that this post may make little sense, and that I've somehow gotten myself to the point where I can be aware of that even when I'm this tired), so I think I'll end my post here.

My Please login to see this link. (which I actually use), my Please login to see this link. (which I mostly don't use), and my Please login to see this link. (which I don't use anymore pretty much at all really). If there are awards for "'highest number of long forum posts", then I'd have probably won at least 1 by now. XD

Each bug taken individually is not always difficult to fix, but all the bugs/requests delay each individual fix. IIRC we've fixed more than 1000 bugs and feature requests in CF 2.5 and its exporters, this can be done in a single day. I wish we could :p

And I don't remember seeing this bug in the bug box until recently. Only bugs that are reported to the bug box have a chance to be fixed.

So. since the launch of the exporter until this day no one posted in the bug box about the colored outline problem?

Sorry but I keep my opinion, that Clickteam omits bugs and issues she knows is there. I do not consider this case as an ordinary extension or something. I consider quite serious this colored outlines problem, something that should have been resolved long ago

There are several topics about the same problem:
Please login to see this link.

What I say is ... the Clickteam takes time with these extensions or more things at once "Google game services as example", but the "basic" it would be this Smooth Resizing like any game for android still presents problems. Good .. this is very strange for me. Sorry for my opinion

  • hmm, thanks! I will report this issue too!

    Edit:

    Created! issue #3089
Thats a sad question.. I recently contacted another forum user and when I questioned him about an alternative to this issue he said: "Yes, switching to Game Maker. "

For me ... solutions like "Use alpha channel" or "set the transparent color as close as possible to the color of the backround where the object is placed" is a way of masking the real problem.
    wel... let's wait
