Scrolling vertical as well as horizontal

Welcome to our brand new Clickteam Community Hub! We hope you will enjoy using the new features, which we will be further expanding in the coming months.

A few features including Passport are unavailable initially whilst we monitor stability of the new platform, we hope to bring these online very soon. Small issues will crop up following the import from our old system, including some message formatting, translation accuracy and other things.

Thank you for your patience whilst we've worked on this and we look forward to more exciting community developments soon!

  • ok thanks. could in pick your brains about values. I want to have a key that resets at the beginning of the level so it shows on the level at the start and when the player collects it disappears and the icon at the bottom changes its animation to show a lite key.

I have the lite key and all the objects in place but I am using global values, so if the global value of KeyBlue = 0 then the Inventory Item shows a grey key whereas if the KeyBlue = 1 then it changes it animation to be a lite key.
I also have the player collect the key which then destroys, but how can i set the global value when the player collects it? I know I could use flag with toggle but I wondered whether Global Values were the best method of creating this? :)

  • sorry my question was rather complex, what I am asking is what is the best way to save values which will be resetr across the level - I assume Global values are for other items but I have used the flag on/off and then linked the results to this depending on what happens.

  • ok thanks, although flag toggle also works - see below, although in this case it doesn't appear to be working after inserting BlueKey make sure Flag = on when pressing ctrl

Also, how do I name the alterable value - I know I can add the value to it using the storyboard

  • Sorry where can I find that option please, I have looked everywhere LOL

Also, can you see anything wrong with this.. It's not opening the chest when I have the BlueKey Alterable Value set to 1

Also am I correct in thinking if I use more than one frame for the level I need to use global variables so that the key on/off values are kept across frames?
Wheeras if the frame holds ALL the level I can use alterable values. :)

  • I'll take a look at your code later or somebady else will.

The frame preferences can be set in the main editor (where you actually set frame size, virtual size and so on).

True, alterable values will be reset when a frame ends/starts. So if your level needs more than one frame I suggest using global values.

  • Thanks, although I have fixed it. I restarted using Global Values and all is well : Many thanks.
I have decided to have one level of screens that link to other parts of the level. Using Global Values I can link them quite wasily (keys, chests, etc).

Thanks again for all your help. I know I'm a beginner learning but I hope I can pass on some of my own tips to others in the later days to come :)

Note: I still cant find the frame preferences LOL I can set the virtual sizes but cannot se anything to set the alterable value names?
