  • Ive been using mmf2 for almost a decade now and i can figure this one out.
does anyone know how they would be able to make the gameplay for the mine kart in donkey kong country? how the mine kart just follows the track and jumps.
also it would have to work on android so it couldnt use any extensions that arent supported.

    any ideas?

  • funny i was playing that yesterday - and i was thinking the samething
and right away i thought about it and the easiest way i can think of
is setting the kart in a path everytime you jump you can destroy the original and
make another object do the jump - like the platform object for example -
i'll do a test and post it.
    XD

  • have the minecart progress along predetermined "nodes" in a straight line, then make a different movement for it when it jumps by giving it gravity and such, making sure to clamp the position so it doesn't over/under-shoot the landing zone

  • all great ideas guys. i guess i just get stuck on when the mine kart curves! i think the nodes idea would be the best one. i have this old example of an object following a path of nodes that i think i might use.

so the idea is you have a bunch of nodes laid out on the track. the nodes then would be invisible of course along with the object following the nodes. when the mine kart isnt jumping a flag is off telling the mine kart to stay on that invisible object. when it is jumping the flag is off and the kart can do its jump physics.

now what im thinking is the kart will have the same speed as the invisible object, thus if u jump and miss the next node over the jump your kart continues to fall.
if it hits a node the flag is on and ur attached to the invisible object.

That sort of just came to me right now lol. ill try it later and put up the example if i get it working.
maybe someone else has a better way XD thanks for the advice
