3D game (made with P3D): Quadratic Attack 3D (looking for feedback and suggestions!)

Welcome to our brand new Clickteam Community Hub! We hope you will enjoy using the new features, which we will be further expanding in the coming months.

A few features including Passport are unavailable initially whilst we monitor stability of the new platform, we hope to bring these online very soon. Small issues will crop up following the import from our old system, including some message formatting, translation accuracy and other things.

Thank you for your patience whilst we've worked on this and we look forward to more exciting community developments soon!

  • Oh, you also made the flame quadratic!

Have been away some days, will try it asap :)

btw, forgot to say I played the ice stage some ten days ago,
particularly liked the Ice quadratic weapon pattern!
Also seems like you made interesting new changes, good chance to play that again X)

    Heheh, thanks!

By the way, Version 0.3.1 finally finished processing, so it's now officially out! Hooray!

Version 0.3.1 is just a bug-fix and minor optimization update: As best as I can recall, nothing else major was really changed.

More specifically, the signs shouldn't have as much overhead as they may have had before, and now the game behaves closer to how it's supposed to in 30 frames per second mode, especially in the Flame Quadratic's stage.

(which I don't use anymore pretty much at all really). If there are awards for "'highest number of long forum posts", then I'd have probably won at least 1 by now. XD

  • I just added some alternate takes of existing musics to the soundtrack.

Mainly, an alternate stage select theme, and an alternate weapon get theme.

You can listen to them here: Please login to see this link.

  • It's official: The hiatus is on hold until further notice.

"What is this madness? A hiatus going on hold?", you might now be thinking.

Well, I got some rather valuable feedback from someone, and now I'm working on not only fixing the issues they had, but also working on adding the remaining weapons. Then I'll be off to work on the next stage, and, once that's done, I may even work on the final stage!

    Stay tuned for more updates!

  • New video time!:

Please login to see this media element.

This time, I decided to demonstrate everything at once. New weapons! New enemies! New ways to use completely overpowered weapons to shred through levels in no time flat! (Though I kinda cheated in that regard by loading a save file which already had all the weapons unlocked. XD)

  • Wow, that's what can be called an update!

Lots of new things I see, I like all the changes,
    new enemies and weapons
(and some touches in textures here and there?)
make for more variation and challenge

  • Thanks!

And believe me, it's only going to get better from here on out. I'm still not yet done with adding all the changes for the feedback I've gotten, and then there's the fact that there are still two more stages that have yet to be added. :)

    Stay tuned! :D

  • Here's a first glimpse of the next stage:

Probably not what you were expecting from the Explosive Quadratic, eh?

Also, I've added the stage and boss theme of the Explosive Quadratic to the soundtrack, as well as a few other musics which were previously missing from the soundtrack:

  • So, I was just browsing GameJolt, minding my own business, poking around on the retro channel, and...

Yes, that's right: Quadratic Attack 3D is, somehow, under the hot retro games list on GameJolt! I can't believe it!

I guess that "little" boost from Clickteam's Twitter account was a bit bigger than I thought. XD

  • Awesome :D

    great work man!

(also like the new pic of the explosive quadratic stage a lot)

    EDIT:

    (just been there, hoow cool:

    :O)

P.S. have you ever considered implementing (or giving the option) right-click to jump?
Could be maybe more comfortable for someone?

The original plan was to allow for right-clicking to switch weapons. However, as of now, that still hasn't been implemented. I'm also considering figuring out a way to implement auto-fire for people using the mouse controls, but so far my attempts at it haven't worked very well for some reason.

Anyways, the hiatus for the game is now properly beginning, though the plan is to only have the hiatus last a few days to a week. I really need a break from working on this game for the moment, put simply, but I don't need a particularly long break from working on it.

  • A quick update: As soon as I reach the next big milestone/milestones (10 follows, 200 downloads, and/or 500 views), I will be doing something special for you guys while you wait on the hiatus to end.

More details will be given when the next milestone is/next milestones are reached. :)

  • It's finally happened: The game now has 10 followers!

To celebrate the occasion of having 10 followers, and the occasion of having a little bit over 175 downloads, I've release the current progress on the game as "Quadratic Attack 3D: The 1st Milestone Edition"!

You can get it here, but do note that you'll have to scroll down to download the 1st Milestone Edition instead of the current "stable" release: Please login to see this link.

Thanks for all the support, guys! You rock! :D

Have fun with the new version!

  • Just a quick update:

I adjusted the camera angle a bit.

So, what do you guys think?

  • The more I play the game with it, the more I think the new angle should stay, even if it gives players a slight platforming disadvantage. I think it's made up for by giving the player a better combat advantage.

Also got some progress on an auto-fire feature for mouse users: Mainly, the right mouse button will allow for auto-fire. Since mashing the left mouse button is a lot less comfortable than mashing the K key, I figured I'd provide players with an alternative.

I tried adding this earlier, but for some reason it didn't work last time. This time, though, since I managed to get it working, I think it'll be an official feature once the next version is out. :)

  • +1 for the second camera, seem to give some playing advantage

(oh, I missed the milestone edition post - congrats!)

    Casleziro idea is pretty cool,
not sure if will fit the retro style
    (too "modern" feature maybe?)
but done with the mouse wheel at fixed steps as you say could probably do!
