This is complicated, and I'm going to need help.

Welcome to our brand new Clickteam Community Hub! We hope you will enjoy using the new features, which we will be further expanding in the coming months.

A few features including Passport are unavailable initially whilst we monitor stability of the new platform, we hope to bring these online very soon. Small issues will crop up following the import from our old system, including some message formatting, translation accuracy and other things.

Thank you for your patience whilst we've worked on this and we look forward to more exciting community developments soon!

  • I'm creating a horror game using CTF 2.5, and I want it to break the 4th wall, a LOT! One thing I want it to be able to do is create text files on the computer's desktop, leading to the game's page. How can I go about doing this?

  • The File Object can create, copy delete files and such and for text files you can even use the Edit Box Object.

  • There's lots of ways to break the fourth wall in a game, but adding unwanted files to somebody's desktop won't be one of them I'm afraid.
Someone might thing: Wait, what ELSE did this thing just put on my computer??!

  • There was a game called "Imscared" that extracted various files as part of its fourth-wall breaking; personally I didn't mind it, and thought it was neat.

If you go to "Data Elements" in Fusion, you can use the Binary Data tab to embed any kind of file in your game. If you are clever about it, you can then use "Extract binary file" (under Special Conditions) and copy it wherever you want on the player's computer. You aren't just limited to TXT files. I personally wouldn't mind a file being placed on the Desktop as it's visibly there and I can easily delete it. Another good place though (and I believe the folder that Imscared used) is just in the same directory as your EXE.
