Will comments affect performance?

Welcome to our brand new Clickteam Community Hub! We hope you will enjoy using the new features, which we will be further expanding in the coming months.

A few features including Passport are unavailable initially whilst we monitor stability of the new platform, we hope to bring these online very soon. Small issues will crop up following the import from our old system, including some message formatting, translation accuracy and other things.

Thank you for your patience whilst we've worked on this and we look forward to more exciting community developments soon!

  • Ok, I feel really stupid asking this, but I'm currently in the process of creating an android game and I've been doing a lot of research on how to keep projects optimized for smoother running games. My question is will huge amounts of comments in my project affect performance on the android device? Let's say for example I have a project that has 500 actual lines of events, and 1 comment for each event. So that amounts to 1000 lines that Fusion has to run through per frame. So will this eventually lead to slower games on android? I'm sure with a modern day PC this wouldn't even make a game flinch but for handheld devices I'm not sure. Just something I've been thinking about for a while now because I'm just one of those people that will comment every little thing I do.

  • Nah. I'm 99.99% sure that those comments are completely discarded when your game is exported. It would be crazy if they weren't. Comment away - and kudos for commenting every little thing you do - that's a good practice in my opinion!

  • Thanks for the reassurance. I figured that was the case with the comments being discarded, but I think actually hearing that would make me feel better in the long run. Part of the reason I asked too is because I seen you can actually activate/deactivate comments as well as events, so I thought maybe that was why also.

Honestly, I couldn't imagine not commenting. It baffles the crap out of me thinking how people can code 1000+ lines of events without a single comment, and still keep their sanity lol.
