Playing sounds slows down the game

Welcome to our brand new Clickteam Community Hub! We hope you will enjoy using the new features, which we will be further expanding in the coming months.

A few features including Passport are unavailable initially whilst we monitor stability of the new platform, we hope to bring these online very soon. Small issues will crop up following the import from our old system, including some message formatting, translation accuracy and other things.

Thank you for your patience whilst we've worked on this and we look forward to more exciting community developments soon!

  • Hi

I have noticed that, even though I really take care of the optimisation of the games, having sounds still affects the performance (especially on Android). When I turn off the sounds, there's a steady 60fps. I have tried using .mp3 and .ogg files and there's no difference. All the files are 200kb or less. My guess is that .wav could only do worse, because it's noticeably larger.

Does anyone have a solution for this?

    Thanks

  • Wav doesn't need to be uncompressed, so it may be faster if anything.

Still, it's odd. I haven't noticed slowdown myself. Have you tried using/comparing with the sound player object? (if it's compatible with Android)
