Descendatorium - Sparckman 25 Event Competition Entry

Welcome to our brand new Clickteam Community Hub! We hope you will enjoy using the new features, which we will be further expanding in the coming months.

A few features including Passport are unavailable initially whilst we monitor stability of the new platform, we hope to bring these online very soon. Small issues will crop up following the import from our old system, including some message formatting, translation accuracy and other things.

Thank you for your patience whilst we've worked on this and we look forward to more exciting community developments soon!

  • What the hell you made this in a weekend???

I gotta' ask because it's killin' me but how did you do the light sources in the darkness? Whenever I've done this I just take a giant black active object (that's larger than the frame) and cut a hole out in the middle, and set it so the main character's always in the middle. And it works.. kind of.. but how you have an individual light source for each lantern and etc. is WAY better.

  • Nah, I think it was spread out over 2 weekends.

It's just that I worked on this little thing on the weekends but never during the regular work-week. The total time spent on this was probably around 3 work days. The 4th day was mostly spent putting together the itch.io page and submission stuff for Sparckman's competition.

The light is rather easy, when someone else had to make the shaders that is(Looki)!

I have a layer above everything that is using Looki's Multiply shader. On that layer I put a black backdrop that covers the entire screen and then I have active objects as bright circles that are set to be positioned above the player and also the lanterns.

Lantern lights has Screen Shader applied as well in order to have all of the different light-blobs merge neatly with eachother when they happen to overlap.

I isolated the parts from the game and made a quick example for you. Looki's shaders included too, just extract them into your Fusion's "Effects" folder and you should be good to open the .mfa.

    Hope it helps! :)

  • Thanks :)

If I have time in the future I'd like to turn it into a bigger game with more features and such.
