It's weird, people on TouchArcade forums are saying they haven't played it... They talk about bad controls while all the forum members talk about how great the controls are and that the scoring system "doesn't make sense" when the game doesn't have any scoring system to speak of. I think they watched a video of a guy fumbling with the game and talked about it like it was their impressions. I didn't give them any promo codes, so it would make sense...
DistantJ not worry, there are people who will destroy you in the forums, I have years of doing PC games (from 94) and when you succeed or products that stand out, but ultimately always generate the critical advertising. So do not worry!
Just ignore the bad reviews. I bought the game, and I think the controls are perfect.

well done on the release. First impressions from the screenshots look like Mario, but as long as it plays well then it doesn't matter too much. I look forward to trying it out.

Oh cool, it's only free for a day, to spread word of mouth. There are no ads in it or anything like that. I was recommended it by other developers on TouchArcade, apparently 'free for 1 day' is actually an amazing way to boost sales because you get thousands of downloads and those people spread the word, and it's the way many people have had their game featured by apple too.
Everybody has been talking about how much they want a score in the game, so I've added one for the next update...

So I put the app up free for a day, in order to increase my fan base, spread word of mouth, and sell in app purchases to a larger number of people when I add them, and erm, it got downloaded 16,487 times... LOL! Well, if those people each tell one friend, I'm ****ing minted. Either way, my next project is going on hold while I work on DLC levels for this one. Will be advertising future games from within Awesome Land, Fruit Ninja style...

I would say like 1 in 10 of those people will keep it on their ipods though, a lot of users more then likely tried it then moved on.
Thanks David, could ya give it a 5 star review? Stupid freebie kids are splashing their anger all over the 5 star reviews for some reason. A lot of them can't handle the challenge in the game.

Yeah, and all the reviewers have praised the level design for this, but I think a lot of the freebie kids are used to really dumb basic platformers on iOS so the challenge threw them!
After the freebie day sales have boosted, I've gotten another spike from it. :D

DistantJ - You are going to love having the leaderboards in there. It's a lot of fun watching the total number of scores grow, but even more so is checking the daily high scores. It gives you a great idea of the replay value people are getting with your game. I'm definitely looking forward to the update!
