Build 293.10 - Release version

Will there be a time when new things are not added to Fusion 2.5 and it goes into a fix bugs only stage of development? imoho I say lock it down asap and focus all extra time on F3.
It seems that every new beta or version is followed by a massive thread with multiple requests for new things or extra ways of doing things to be added.
Maybe these new things could be added to a suggestion list thread for things that Fusion 3 could do. Then the community can discuss or add input to help give the Clickteam Devs ideas and thoughts on them.

F2.5 is great and works well as it is. of course fix bugs and make updates to the exporters to keep them working due to outside changes. Please just work on F3.

I think they have separate groups working on F3 and F2. You don't hear much from the F3 group on the forums though. At one time they did share a lot of their work, and there was a massive Fusion 3 suggestion list thread which was buzzing with activity, but that backfired on them because people got so excited that they started expecting Fusion 3 to be ready just around the corner, when in reality Clickteam still had a lot of work to do on it.

But at any rate, many of the feature additions that they might do now for 2.5 will probably impact 3.0 too. For example, I don't know if Fusion 3 was originally supposed to have an Event Explorer window, but I'm sure it will now that they've added it in 2.5. And I'm sure that over the coming months they'll gather feedback and make improvements to the 2.5 Event Explorer, which also means that they'll be able to get it right the first time when they add it to F3.

Also, Fusion today is miles better than Fusion 2.5 when it was released in 2013. Back then, flags were unnamed, the Frame Editor was slow, the Event and Event List editors didn't sync properly, Global Events didn't work very well, and none of the incredibly useful 2.5+ features existed. They've made a lot of really significant improvements to it, but it's taken them years to get here. The same process will occur when Fusion 3 eventually comes out. It will be ok, but it will have bugs, unported extensions, missing stuff they didn't have time for, and a massive to-do list of user suggestions. Even if Fusion 3 came out tomorrow, it's not unreasonable to expect that it won't feel as polished and feature complete as 2.5 does today, until the second half of this decade. Nobody wants to hear that, but I can't see how it's going to be any other way. That's not a criticism of Clickteam, just an observation of the realities of software development.

So I'm pretty happy that they're still working to improve Fusion 2.5. I'd rather one near-perfect engine than two engines that both feel like works-in-progress.

I don't think that 2.5 feels like a work in progress. Also I think F3 will be pretty good when it comes out. Its been worked on since 2016 so almost 5 years of development. From what Ive read its also been the main program used by Clickteam professional services to export games to consoles including switch.

If 2.5 was 64bit and had native mac support, played well with modern graphics, file sizes and integers without workarounds, I would find it a lot easier to just wait and say nothing.
Looks to me like wants, outweigh needs for a lot of requests. That's just my opinion and cool if others have different ones. Really props to the team for making it work at all and catering to the never ending requests. Its been mentioned many times that Clickteam is a small company. Was just trying to suggest that all resources are put towards F3. What ever happens ill keep using it and just hope the team more time to work on it and get to a release date.

Just to clarify, neither do I. But only because they've kept doing great work on it these past several years. If they had dropped it and devoted everything to Fusion 3 five years go, that would have been a different story. So I'm grateful for the approach they've taken.

Exactly my point XD. 5 years is a very short time for something as big and complex as Fusion 3. Fusion 2 was already 13(!) years old when DLC2.5+ came out, bringing with it many features that feel like core essentials today.

But they obviously won't keep working on F2.5 forever. I think you'll probably get your wish sooner rather than later.

I don't think that's quite it... Remember it was ClickTeam who actually announced a release date / window! F3 was going to underwhelm and they knew it!!! Hence the time it has taken. I beleave Fusion 3 will be 2.5 and a whole lot more.

oh my, Vol! You paint a pretty bleak picture! I understand what you're saying but that scenario won't wash! The competition is too strong! Especially in open source! Things like unported extension..... forget about about it! This is Fusion 3. New ways. New workflows. I'm for breaking as much, if not ALL things 2.5 in Fusion 3! "feature complete as 2.5 does today..." ? 2.5 is hardly feature complete! Native Controller support remember (to name just one)? I think there will be some people invested in 2.5 wanting things from 2.5 in 3 but I say...... Tough beans! Let give 2.5 a Viking funeral!

People laughed at me when I said Fusion 3 wouldn't be ready by 2016. They probably thought I was being bleak then too. But I was simply being realistic.

Think I may have found a bug. If you use the "Mouse pointer is over an object" condition, and then select the Button Object (in my case, a button object set to be a checkbox control) as the target object, it doesn't seem to function at all. It works fine for Active Objects as you would expect, but seems to not like button objects despite them being selectable in the dialog box when you're choosing the object.

Disregard the above post. It's working fine, there was another event in my code that was conflicting with my Mouse over object" events.

Hitting Ctrl-C on an item in the Find Toolbar doesn't seem to actually copy anything (using the right-click menu does)
