MMF2 Extension Pack 2 (Pre-version)
A new extension pack is ready. This pack contains all the extensions created by CelloSoft as well as the Direction Calculator object created by Philip Williams.
http://www.clickteam.com/misc/MMF2ExtPack2.exe (500 Kb)
Notes
- You need a registered version of MMF2 or MMF2 Developer to install this extension pack.
- These extensions have the same features as the MMF 1.5 version. Some bugs have been fixed in almost all the expressions that return characters strings in the Cellosoft extensions.
- Examples and documentation are not provided in this pre-version.
- The Clipboard and Window Title objects are provided only for compatibility reasons, you should use the built-in features of MMF2 instead. These objects won't appear in the Insert New object dialog box in the frame editor. If, for any reason, you want them to appear in this dialog box, edit the Exts.ini file in the Extensions folder, locate the kcclip.mfx and kctitle.mfx sections and modify the category name in the "cats" line.
- Marcello gave me several versions of the source code of some extensions, hopefully I've converted the good version... Let me know if you see compatibility problems and/or if you see if an extension is not the same as in MMF 1.5. Thanks!

Fast Function <img src="/center/images/graemlins/laugh.gif" alt="" /> Sweet, At least I've got an alternative to the Power Function for now.

[]have the licenses changed on cellosoft's extensions? are they now free to use for commercial applications?[/]
I'm waiting for an answer from Marcello about this question (to change the license texts in the final version), but I think so, as he announced it in the previous forum and on his site.

Re: MMF2 Extension Pack 2 (Pre-version)
Something is wrong with mode 7ex. It does not save the images you make in the picture editor. But all of my previous mode 7 projects work when run in MMF2. It also does not load image files at runtime. Sometimes it also quits MMF2 at edit time, no error message.

Re: MMF2 Extension Pack 2 (Pre-version)
Thanks these will help a lot. I don't think that just because an extension is "redundant" it should not be converted. The more extensions that are converted, the less reworking is required to port our applications to and start to use MMF2.

Re: MMF2 Extension Pack 2 (Pre-version)
Could just be because Mode7 was just converted, it wasn't taught to get images from the new image editor?
-
Re: MMF2 Extension Pack 2 (Pre-version)
The Popup Message Object seems to work differently than in 1.5. The dialog doesn't seem completely modal anymore, it looses focus when you click in the application, and when you open a dialog box at the start of the frame, it messes up the application background.
-
Re: MMF2 Extension Pack 2 (Pre-version)
Then why do my old projects work when run?
-
Re: MMF2 Extension Pack 2 (Pre-version)
When is the date of the main release? And will mode7ex be modified to support actives? (scale != with+height)

Re: MMF2 Extension Pack 2 (Pre-version)
Thankyou, TRAY ICON!!! it works!!!
I've re-made an app I was forced to make with MMF1.5 and i'll give you a quick what's new of my app. Just to show how much better MMF2 is.
version 1.0 (mmf 1.5 exe+dll 960kb)
dropdown box
on top tick box
semi transparent
icon tray
rtf
version 1.1 optimized (mmf2 dll built in 426kb)
dropdown box
icon tray
rtf
on top tick box
1 meg overhead (old exe over 6 meg footprint)
System resources <img src="/center/images/graemlins/smile.gif" alt="" /> 0%
(windows xp icons)
I don't think transparent window is availablee for MMF2 yet, but It would be good if it was

Re: MMF2 Extension Pack 2 (Pre-version)
Sorry thnaks for the new extensions.

Re: MMF2 Extension Pack 2 (Pre-version)
[] I don't think that just because an extension is "redundant" it should not be converted.[/]
Are you talking about the Clipboard and Window Title object I was talking about? They ARE converted. They don't appear in the Insert New Object dialog box just because you shouldn't use them in new applications. As they are converted you do not need to remove them from your old applications...

Re: MMF2 Extension Pack 2 (Pre-version)
Thanks for the info about mode7ex, I forgot to check if the images were still working, sorry, I'll fix it.

Seems weird, but I'll check it too. Thanks!

Re: MMF2 Extension Pack 2 (Pre-version)
Yves that you say to me of the Joypad extension is complicated to turn it or the author does not appear. Excuse that is so annoying, but all my engines of MMF 1.5 works with that extension.
Greetings,
P.D.: Sorry my english

Re: MMF2 Extension Pack 2 (Pre-version)
It's going to be converted. I'm not sure when though... I'll ask z33z.
Yves.

Re: MMF2 Extension Pack 2 (Pre-version)
Ives thanks for your answer, I hope that it is soon. And the last one asks extension DMC 1 will be turned?
Greetings,

Re: MMF2 Extension Pack 2 (Pre-version)
Is there a reason that we shouldn't still use them? Let's say you create a new frame in an old application and want to continue to use the same extension because that's what has been used in all of the others. And couldn't you just copy and paste the object into other frames anyway. I don't see the reason not to have them show up as extentions. I would try to replace them in a brand new application, but even then, if you had a tricky bunch of code, you would be tempted to copy and paste and reuse it rather than rewrite the whole thing.
Also, the kctoken extension seems to have appeared but I didn't see it in the new list.
Thanks for the quick work in getting the extensions converted.
If I could get the Slider Bar and timex, I would be in pretty good shape.

Re: MMF2 Extension Pack 2 (Pre-version)
1 question!
Does Mode7ex run that slow as in mmf1.5?
Thanks!
-
Re: MMF2 Extension Pack 2 (Pre-version)
[]Is there a reason that we shouldn't still use them?[/]Mainly because it increases the file size without a good reason. It is also a bad habbit as you should be getting used to the shiny new built-in features.
At the moment 'compatibility-only' extensions will be loaded if you load an application which uses them, but won't show up in the extension list.
If you want them to be listed then open up \extensions\exts.ini and modify the cats entry for the specific extension (so that they don't have the value of 'none').

Re: MMF2 Extension Pack 2 (Pre-version)
Joshtek,
I think your reasoning is sound as far as your not using old extensions. But why do you care if I use old extensions. I'm more concerned with meeting deadlines and keeping my business going while I work a full time job. And if doing that means using an old extension instead of learning the new one, well, that's life. I'll get to learn the shiny new MMF2 as soon as I can as I made the switch from Klik & Play to Click & Create to MMF1 to MMF1.5. By hiding the extensions, you just make it more confusing.
Just my opinion.
Steve

Re: MMF2 Extension Pack 2 (Pre-version)
As Joshtek said, edit Exts.ini and modify the "cats" line if you want them to appear. You can show or hide the extensions you want. In a future version of MMF2 you'll be able to do it directly in the Insert New Object dialog box.

Re: MMF2 Extension Pack 2 (Pre-version)
Update:
The file has been updated with fixes in the Mode7ex object: you can now edit the images in the setup dialog box and the object now supports the MMF2 graphic filters, i.e. for example it can now load PNG files at runtime (in the previous version it was able to load only BMP files, as in MMF 1.5).
I'm not sure if I can do something for the Popup message object, it must come from a difference somewhere in the MMF2 runtime, I'll try to take a look later.

Re: MMF2 Extension Pack 2 (Pre-version)
I think a lot of games developpers wait for ControlX object... But I don't know if this object will be converted soon or not at all...
-
Re: MMF2 Extension Pack 2 (Pre-version)
Isn't that made by z33z?
If so you could ask him directly about it.
-
Re: MMF2 Extension Pack 2 (Pre-version)
z33z told me he'll start converting his extensions this week. <img src="/center/images/graemlins/cool.gif" alt="" />

Re: MMF2 Extension Pack 2 (Pre-version)
Sry, but...
Does the Mode7ex run that slow as in mmf1.5?
-
Re: MMF2 Extension Pack 2 (Pre-version)
Ives is the same one of the JoyPad extension?
-
Re: MMF2 Extension Pack 2 (Pre-version)
Is it just me, or is the Tray Icon object icon really weird?
The Mode 7 ex object also has some transparency issues in the "Create new object" dialog.

Re: MMF2 Extension Pack 2 (Pre-version)
The Cellosoft extensions (as of April 2005) are all completely free for use in freeware and commercial applications. Similarly, they are no longer supported or maintained by Cellosoft (not that I really maintained them to start with).
They are likely to be released at LGPL at some point, but it looks like Yves is doing a great job, so I don't know if that's necessary. <img src="/center/images/graemlins/laugh.gif" alt="" />
It looks like the wrong version of tray icon may have been converted (that was a pre-beta icon), but I honestly do not remember which is the right one.

Re: MMF2 Extension Pack 2 (Pre-version)
Yes, I've noticed the source code of the Tray Icon object was odd... Marcello, if you can find another version, send it to me.

Re: MMF2 Extension Pack 2 (Pre-version)
Thanks Yves for the conversion of the Direction Calculator, it seems to work fine. Now my project can be finished.
-
Re: MMF2 Extension Pack 2 (Pre-version)
Hi.
Will the Cellosoft extensions be available for TGF2 as well? I recall you posted something about it in one of your early posts Mr. Yves.
Thank you in advance.

Re: MMF2 Extension Pack 2 (Pre-version)
Is there any news on the PowerApp Pro extension?
