Crash of Doooom
Just pretty much lost my game as MMF2 decided to crash, and on reloading it declared there were "bad objects" (I.e.: 3/4 of my game objects) which would now be linked to by shortcut.
I know I should backup (and I do), but sometimes its so hard to remember when you are involved in creating something. Can we please please please have automatic backups in case of these things happening.
I'm using version R241.
*cries!*

Tools/Preferences/Autobackup. Sorted!
(ETA: I should really be a bit more empathetic about losing your work - I know just how that feels <img src="/center/images/graemlins/frown.gif" alt="" /> I'm turning backups on now, actually.)

Re: Crash of Doooom
Thanks, but how do I access them?

Re: Crash of Doooom
First of all update to Build 242: http://clickteam.com/center/showflat.php/Cat/0/Number/13802/
Then go to Tools -> Preferences -> General (tab) and turn on autobackup.
A recently fixed bug has almost made the bad object bug impossible to get but you must have found a really rare way to get it. If you can remember what you did before it crashed, it would be helpful.

Re: Crash of Doooom
The backups are saved as [Name of application].001, .002, etc. in the same folder as your application. Rename them to .mfa to get to them.

Re: Crash of Doooom
I had added an active object that appeared (not following frame) on the top layer (of 3). I had just told it (in event editor) to appear, then went into level editor and clicked on the object icon in the objects box.
Just seen the 242 update, how come I havent got this when I click "check for updates" within MMF2!!

It is answered in that thread you can see there. It is first put on the autoupdater when no one has found any bugs in the patch that should be fixed before everyone gets it through the updater.

Andos, the fix you're talking about was in the build 242, I forgot to add it to the list of fixed bugs, that's done:
- Event editor: objects with qualifiers changed to bad objects when you copy/paste actions in the action editor.

Re: Crash of Doooom
I dont understand... he has already got bad object, and then when he "check" on Autobackup, he just can open like [name].001 and it is without "bad objects" ? ...*confused*
