Platform Problems
Hi All,
I have just received ver 2 of MMF, I have not made any programmes for about 4 years, so I decided to make a
side scroller .
I have a Backdrop that is a passageway (not treated as an obstacle)I used a graphics programme to duplicate/cut a small portion of the floor and overlaid on the main backdrop floor as a platform backdrop object.
My Character is of course an Active Object with Platform Movement.
With gravity set to 1 on starting the programme the character Sinks past the floor platform, also any Obstacles that I set up my Character just walks past and is not halted, the Hot Spot of the Charactor is
close to the feet.
I have examined my past programmes and cannot see what
I am doing wrong ?.
Any idea’s Please.

Re: Platform Problems
This sounds like the classic problem of not having the event "Player collides with the background > Stop Player's movement" set up in the Event Editor.
Either that or the collision backdrop is on a different layer from the player - for objects to collide, they have to be on the same layer.

Re: Platform Problems
Other possible solutions:
In the properties window mark your backdrops as 'Obstacle Type': 'Obstacle' or 'Platform'
If nothing helps - post the file in the other forum. We'll have a look!

Re: Platform Problems
Hi all,
Thank you David N & The Raven for your prompt replies, David you were right on
the money with:
‘This sounds like the classic problem of not having the event "Player collides
with the background > Stop Player's movement" set up in the Event Editor’.
Did that and problem solved, what you can forget in four years, by the way isn’t it
great that you can make and name lots of animations in Active Characters.
Cheers
