Are you sure about that? Most games I know deactivate it (e.g.
Battlefield). I know Alt-Tab works during most apps but that's a
key combination that is useful. The WinKey (in my opinion) is not
since you get the same result by pressing Ctrl-Esc...
Well. No need to argue about that. I'd just like to be able to use
the Alt key and deactivate the Windows key.

Perhaps, but with alt, shift and ctrl you don't have to worry about key-press events being lost.

What do you mean? I've never had that problem with the letter keys.

Well, there are certain key combinations that just aren't possible, because of the way keyboards are built.
-Oops, upon testing a few combinations I just found out that what I said in my last post was wrong! Try pressing ",","/" and ctrl.

Ah, yeah, now that you mention it, you're right about that. My games have never required more than 3 keys to be pressed at the same time, so I've not suffered from that problem. But I know about it, it can definitely get in the way :(
