MMF2 Build #244 (BETA)
Hi everyone,
The beta version of the build 244 is ready.
Developer Version (4 Mb)
Standard Version (3 Mb)
This is a beta version, so be careful and make backups of your applications.
This version should address the issues that have been reported for Vista. The "Aero disabled" issue is not yet fixed though.
If you have any problem with this build, you can re-install the build 243 without reinstalling MMF2. And in this case, please let us know. ;)
Thank you for reading !
Yves.
List of bug fixes and new features in this version
- General: the dialog box that displays the warning about files stored in directories not relative to the app directory is now resizable.
- Frame editor: layers not unselected on Vista.
- Frame editor: cannot enter large numbers in position & size edit boxes if the property window is too small.
- Event editor: new OR operator for conditions. Warning: obviously any application using this new operator can't be loaded by previous builds of MMF2.
- Event editor: crash when editing a create object action if the parent object was a qualifier.
- Event editor: doing an Invert Selection with opened and closed groups and subgroups could crash.
- Event editor: object order in the event editor not copied when you cut/paste or drag & drop a frame.
- Event editor: scrollbar not working for large events (many conditions in a few events).
- Event editor: now supports more conditions in one single event (128), can display long lists of conditions and allows scrolling through them.
- Event List Editor: now supports more conditions and actions in one event line (128 conditions and 128 actions).
- Developer - DataGrid object : crash when you close an application that displays a modal sub-application with a DataGrid object.
- Developer - DataGrid object : application freezes until you move it if you press a key at start of a frame with a DataGrid object.
- Developer - Dialog Box object : spin control no longer attached to edit box after you close and reopen the dialog box, or go to another tab.
- Developer - Dialog Box object : new Find String and Find String Exact expressions for the List Box and Combo Box controls. These functions are similar to the ones of the List Box and Combo Box objects.
- Draw object : crash and incorrect fill/outline colors with the Ellipse tool.
- Popup Menu object : new Up/Down/Left/Right buttons in the setup box.
- Circular, Regular Polygon and Simple Ellipse movements : if a global object has one of these movements, any further changes made to that object don't spread to the other frames in the application.
- Sounds : sound filters not working if Data Execution Prevention was enabled.
- Debugger : floating point global values not properly displayed.
- Runtime : the AddBackdrop function now adds a new backdrop at the same position if the ink effect is different from "None" (if there is no ink effect, as with the previous builds no backdrop is added if the same backdrop already exists at the same position).
- Runtime : forced animation frame no longer reset when you force a new animation.
- Runtime : crash with recent objects (e.g. Download object) when using a file selector instead of an expression when defining a filename.
- Runtime : debugger window not correctly displayed on Vista.
- Runtime : artefacts around some images rotated in high quality mode.
- Runtime : possible memory leak in some cases after closing modal sub-applications.
- Stand-alone applications : when 2 stand-alone applications are launched at the same time, one of them could report missing extensions.
- Installer : when you "view" a file, the current directory is now set to the directory of the file.
- Installer : you can now run .MSI files via the Run commands.
- Installer : uninstaller doesn't work correctly if installed in a sub-directory of the install directory.
- Installer : shortcut folder in the Start menu not removed by the uninstaller on Vista.

Re: MMF2 Build #244 (BETA)
Fantastic - this came as a bit of a surprise. If I can just point out something to people from that list...
"Event editor: new OR condition".
New OR condition!
-
Re: MMF2 Build #244 (BETA)
Perfect, especially the OR condition is really useful!
And BTW, I would love to see the word from CT to my topic about more "skins" for actives :)

Re: MMF2 Build #244 (BETA)
Great news :)
Unfortunately this Build doesn't fix the bug with overlapping and layering as described here in the middle:
Tactics range without extensions thread
Any chance that this will be fixed soon? The workaround makes too much trouble ...
-
Re: MMF2 Build #244 (BETA)
Lets please keep this thread for problems with build 244 so Yves and Francois can fix them. I am sure someone will comment on your ideas and other bugs as they have time.

Re: MMF2 Build #244 (BETA)
Hmm, had mentioned this bug while 243 was in development. Sorry to disturb. Will not happen any more.
-
Re: MMF2 Build #244 (BETA)
Very very nice build ! Especially OR operator. :)
Great work ! I'll test it soon.
-
Re: MMF2 Build #244 (BETA)
OR operator is a real revolution !!!
/me starts changing thousands of lines to work with OR...
-
Re: MMF2 Build #244 (BETA)

Re: MMF2 Build #244 (BETA)
Outstanding :). OR has been requested for such a long time, I am quite pleased to see it finally happen!
-
Re: MMF2 Build #244 (BETA)
I've just tested OR operator and it's really nicely done ! :)

Wow! I didn't know that this was in the works. What a revolution! That's simply A-M-A-Z-I-N-G! Thank you so much Clickteam.[cool][cool][cool]

Re: MMF2 Build #244 (BETA)
Wow! Or! Quality! Things just keep getting better and better!
-
Re: MMF2 Build #244 (BETA)
Just this week I was wishing there was an OR operator - and low and behold it arrives! YES!!
This should really start to make things interesting.
-
Re: MMF2 Build #244 (BETA)
The OR operator should really increase workflow (nice one, Francois!) and the other changes should mean less limitations and better Vista compatibility. A few small changes can make a lot of difference.

Yves we love you!! feels good ("dropping the backwards compatibility") doesn it :P:P:P
now there is room for some REAL updates ;)
keep it going!

Re: MMF2 Build #244 (BETA)
Excellent! I love the OR condition, and see a lot of potential for it already. I have one question though...
Is the 3D Object scrolling trail bug a runtime issue or an object issue? The bug was supposedly fixed in the last version of #243, but it still exists, which is leading me to believe that I have to find an updated object somewhere.
I would appreciate some help on this matter, thank you!

how much :)?

Re: MMF2 Build #244 (BETA)
no new bugs in my projects so far,
except the select object which like in the previous build-randevousz doesnt work anymore: I'll deal and test the thing personally with Dynasoft, PM him if theres something new/changed about object values trough the SDK.

Re: MMF2 Build #244 (BETA)
I feel so stupid asking this! I can't figure out where the OR condition is...

Right click on an existing condition in the event editor and select "OR operator".
-
Re: MMF2 Build #244 (BETA)
Any chance of getting this and this bug fixed anytime soon?
Also, where exactly do we submit bugs so that they get added to the official "to do" list?
-
Re: MMF2 Build #244 (BETA)
All bugs posted in the technical support forum will get reviewed
It helps a lot if you write down instructions on how to reproduce the error.
-
Re: MMF2 Build #244 (BETA)
Small bug that has been here for some while:
When you edit the string of a string object in the frame editor, the default height of the string object is just so small that the blinking caret doesn't show up. I have to resize it a few pixels higher to make it appear.
-
Re: MMF2 Build #244 (BETA)
How many OR's can you have inside a single event?
-
Re: MMF2 Build #244 (BETA)
It still crashes when you're in global events and in the action editor and click the event editor button up on the toolbar.
-
Re: MMF2 Build #244 (BETA)
BUG: GLOBAL FUNCTION OBJECT
The Global Function Object no longer works for me (across frame within app, anyways...)
I noticed this in an existing project when switching from build 243 to 244, and it was a quick thing to find thanks to the new OR condition!! added an "OR, Hit a Key" and I was able to run that line without the GFO working... great addition!
I also was able to easily reproduce the BUG from scratch in a new project. I can post it if needed.

Re: MMF2 Build #244 (BETA)
Thank you Clickteam for another update!
OR will change my life! [wink]
-
Re: MMF2 Build #244 (BETA)
Thanks Clickteam guys! This is sweet.
But I think I gotta switch to build #243 again. I am currently waiting for a fix with the Save Game extension and if it will be fixed with 243 I will choose 243. The OR operator is nice but I don't I need it that bad. And besides from that there'no bugs that's bothering with me too much with 243. Although 244 would be nice but it's about priority. :)
So I'm switching back to 243. :)
-
Re: MMF2 Build #244 (BETA)
nice new stuff, feel like you have removed some of those old 'annoying' things about click software, such as the scrolling around in events with lots of conditions,, that was a pain =).. than again, it usually forced you to tidy up your events.. heh.. but still! good stuff

Of course the "fixed" Save Game extension will work with the build 244. ;)
Yves.

Re: MMF2 Build #244 (BETA)
Spiriax: I don't understand. Do you believe that previous bugs will be back in future builds? All fixes in build 243 will of course be present in 244 too, and you should always have the latest version installed.
-
Re: MMF2 Build #244 (BETA)
Haha, oh, yeah that was kinda stupid. :P
But since you said Yves that it'd be fixed so that it works with 243, I somehow thought that it wouldn't with 244. That it for some reason wouldn't work with 244.
But that's just some kind of excuse, it was just dumb of me to think that. Thanks guys. xD

Re: MMF2 Build #244 (BETA)
Kudos Clickteam! I see your time was well spent! Thanks a lot for the OR Francois, it was so annoying to always have to work around that one.
I'm still drooling over the thought how easy some things will be now. *drool*
BUG (CRASH):
Using the "Select Object Extension" in some cases crashes the application. Could be related to a bug in the engine. See file here.
-
Re: MMF2 Build #244 (BETA)
yeah I've already contacted the author and he'll release a new version of the object compatible with this new build

Re: MMF2 Build #244 (BETA)
I posted an example of the Global Function Object BUG in build 244.
It is here in the File Archive.
