Sound Object, Pan, 3d Effet
In the attached example you can play a sound (included) with a variable pan according to the mouse's X position.
I have noticed that the sound progressively passes from one side to the other as it should, but only between -25 and 25. Under -25 the sound is completely to the left, and above 25 the sound is completely to the right. No sound shades beyond those values.
Please do the test (better with headphones) and tell what you hear:

If you use headphones and take out the left headphone, try clicking at about 25. You will still hear it quietly in the left, but at 100 you can't hear it in the left at all, it is working perfectly. If you want a more spread out effect, divide by a higher number at the end of your volume equation.
Re: Sound Object, Pan, 3d Effet
That's strange. I can't hear a difference in panning when the sound is played from 25 to 100. Same thing when played from -25 to -100. I will try at another computer.
At a pan value of 100, I should hear the sound much louder in the right speaker than at 25, right? But this isn't the case. To me, values beyond 25 and -25 are useless.
Can this have something to do with the volume curve (or whatever is it called) between the left and right channel used to do the panning? Or maybe there's something I don't grasp about panning?
Re: Sound Object, Pan, 3d Effet
I would guess that at a pan of +-25 it's maxing out the volume of one of the channels, but after that it's still making the other one quieter, even though it can't make the first one any louder.
Does it work better if you turn down the volume (either in windows or mmf, obviously not on the speakers)? If it does make a difference, then it's probably what I said above.
Re: Sound Object, Pan, 3d Effet
Thank you for your help. Changing the sound level didn't help.
