Sub Apps

Can someone help me with launching sub apps?

Just a step by step process would be nice.

I have something right now that kinda works. The sub app launches, then doesn't do anything, but flash. I think that I just set the events wrong, but I would like it so that the user can choose what app to open. Right now, this is what I have:

3 objects in frame: A button, A file object, and the sub app object.

Conditions/events:

1. Button clicked: checked under File object: Open load file selector on C:\my directory

2. File object: Last action OK: Checked under sub app object: set application FileSelReturn$("(pic of file object)")

1. Add a global Value "ShowSubapplicationXYZ" Default to 0

In the Frame select compare to global value -->

ShowSubapplicationXYZ = 0

Destory Sub Application object


ShowSubapplicationXYZ = 1
+ only run once per loop

Create Sub Application at XY on Frame

2. Add a Button or similar to the sub application and add:

Clicked on Button?

Set ShowSubapplicationXYZ to 0

3. Thats it

Make sure you share Global Values with the Sub Application, check the properties Tab!

Speak English. I'm new with this. I don't know how to make those conditions. What object do I click to get it, ect....

And will it make a file selector open? I want the user to choose the sub app.

And how will that work, anyway.

If I go to the frame where the sub app is, and it =0, it will get destroyed before I hit the button.

EDIT:

I did everything but the Create Sub Application at XY on Frame event. How do I create that one? Its not under the sub application object.

It's under the "create object"- the icon looks like a little shape being drawn by a pencil.

Sorry I did not know that you are a starter, it's hard to guess the level of expertize of another clicker just from a single post.

I didn't mean it like that. Sorry. I meant it as in I didn't understand it because I am new with this.

Anyway, how would you make it so it opens the load selector and all? Thats what I need. I want it so that the user can choose the sub app.

Well the Subapplication Object does not have a Selector

most other objects have, like the File object for example.

You might need to combine those two. With the File Object you select the application you want to open. And after that you pass the full path over to the Sub Application.

I have not done this so far, so Im afraid I can't give more details.

It kinda worked. It just twitched though. It opend the sub app but it just kinda flashed. Can you tweak them for me and get it to work? thanks.
