I don't think a virus would cause this problem, but why not...
I'll try to make a special version that generates a log file to see if we can locate the problem. I'll send you a PM in this forum (as the e-mail doesn't seem to work).
HI again
I uninstalled everything - deleted the directory - removed the registry folder under user and local machine. re-installed in safe mode and still will not start
What do you mean by "re-installed in safe mode"? You should install it in normal mode. Also, make sure you use an administrator account to install the program. But anyway I don't think that would be the reason of this issue. I'm building a special version for you, I'll upload it within 15 minutes.
did a complete scan
PM sent.
Update : this was due to the QuickTime object, crashing MMF2 at start for some reason although MMF2 should be protected against crashes in extensions when it starts.
I don't know why it crashes now on this machine though.
If this happens to someone else, to fix the problem either remove the kcqtw3.mfx file from your MMF2 Extensions directory, or edit Exts.ini, search for the [kcqtw3.mfx] section and change the "cats=Video" line to "cats=none" (this is better, as this file is not updated by patches, so the Quicktime object will be permanently disabled even in future upgrades).
