For some reason nothing that I load on Direct Show wants to run. Mp3's don't run and neither do AVi's files. Anybody else having this problem?
Direct Show runs in MMF HWA.

Direct Show runs in MMF HWA.
It takes two commands to make stuff run in Directshow. Load the file and then Play. Are you doing both?
I have, oddly enough, the same problem. I can play media files with the HWA beta, but not with the regular version.
Ok I am glad I am not the only person having the problem. Paul I do that like I said which Metal Geo said it doesn't run in MMF2 but it does run in MMF2 HWA.
Weird... I've just tested with the build 247, it works fine... Are you using this build?
Yep. Using Build247 with MMF2Developer. I'm on Vista Ultimate 32-bit.
But yeah. Odd how it works in the HWA beta (1F) but not in the vanilla version. And I don't think it never worked before.
Just as a note, dont know if this makes a difference...i dont think Direct Show can run i-tunes MP3 files as Apple put some security on them that doesnt seem to allow them to work in Direct Show.

Direct show can't even play .m4a files that you get off iTunes, even if there is no protection. (I don't think so anyway, as it's not a Microsoft technology)
MetalGeo & JoOCoGames, is your application in DirectX mode? There are issues in the DirectShow object if the application is in this mode. Although there should be the same issue in MMF2 HWA... (unless I've made a change I didn't remember)
No It's running in standard mode. When I reported this problem I was running build 248 and so during reading your response i went back to build 247 and it still does not work.
Download this video example that i used in my Power Users Guide book, and if it works.

They kind of work. No audio can be heard.
Edit: I tried other videos and they work, but without any audio as well.
SAme as MetalGeo, there was no sound. A question I have is would downloading the Java Beta mess things up or maybe a type of audio extention is conflicting with it?
No problem here, can hear the audio track... tested with the latest beta version of the build 248 of MMF2.
I'm going to test it on other machines.
PS: is there the same problem in stand-alone applications?
Omg Yves I figured it out. I think it might be a Vista thing because when I ran it I decided to check the mixer on my control panel while the MMF application was running I went to the control panel and it had a new device right next to my soundblaster icon and it was the icon of the MMF application and the volume was all the way down.Long story short vista gives MMF while running its own volume control.
Thanks so much Yves you were aton of help.
Wow... I didn't know either that Vista was storing settings for each application. Well done :)
PS: that explains why it was not happening with MMF2 HWA, as it uses a different runtime...
