Hello.
Is it an good idea to buy Developer edition? Then I can sell my creations, right?
Also is there an new product on the way from clickteam? Because it would be stupid to buy Developer if there's a better product on the way.

Hello.

You can sell your creation with MMF2 Standard version also.
You only need to add the logo and a credit line to your game.
No new "click" product on the horizon for the time being.
The next version has not yet been started so its a bit far out time wise.
You will see HWA and Java get finished for the existing versions before work on the next version even begins.
But if I buy Developer, and then later on come another product, will I get some kind of discount if I buy the new product but already have Developer?
Yes of course.
Like?
I think it would be a good idea to credit ClickTeam anyway. After all, it's good to grow the MMF game making community! ;)Quote:

I am sure they'll inform us all about that when the product is done. Like Jeff said, its not even started on yet.. The discount is likely the last thing they decide upon.
But usually the discount is almost 50 percent if you have the latest best software, which in this case is MMF2 Developer.
By the time a new MMF is here, you have probably used those money ages ago anyway, so go ahead and buy MMF2 Dev when you have the money :)
Correct we do not know the exact discount when upgrading from MMF2 to MMF3. If the past is any indication Clickteam has been very aggressive on the upgrade discounts between versions.
To go from MMF2 to MMF2 Developer the discount is about the price of MMF2, so you don't "lose" much money.
In my experience, CT is fantastic when it comes to dealing with old customers.
If your only interest is constructing games (like me) then why get developer? What extra Functionality doe's developer have for games? Name One "Developer Only Extension" that can be used a game related environment.
"Dialogue Box" it can be pretty handy in game development.
Ok what doe's Dialogue Box Do?
It can create any sort of dialog box you might want to build.
If you run the MMF2 Developer demo you can play with it and see for yourself.
Phizix - Box2D will be developer only. Maybe I should finish it sometime...
What is CT?Quote:

If you want the logo free runtime license and the extra extensions thats great. If TGF2 or MMF2 standard fit your needs thats great also.
I don't like to give credits in my applications and games just because I use their software, I only give to those who was working on the application or game.Quote:

Well I do like the community, helping and development, but I still don't really like to give credits to the creators of the software I'm using... Hmm I'll consider it.
Why? They DID do a major part of the development of your game :)
And the more reputation Clickteam gets, the more money they earn and better prodcuts they make :D
It doesn't have to be much. It can just be a logo and a "thanks". Like this:
Credit Line 1
Credit Line 2
Credit Line 3
Thanks to clickteam for .....

Its nice if people give CT credit, but one of the benefits of Developer is that you dont need to give credit. Some professional developers want to keep that side clear of "developement engine" info.
So if people give us credit in MMF2 Dev created programs, thats great :D, but its certainly not a problem if they dont as thats one of the features of getting Developer, the choice that you can do either :D
Well I just think that if I shall advertise for someone, then they should pay me for it, or they should advertise my works too.
your not advertising your giving credit to those who deserved it.
Think of it this way: No clickteam, your game never happend. And plus, I cant see one good reason to get dev just because of the lisence where you don't have to credit them. Big deal, just stick a MMF/clickteam logo at the end of your credits or something.
Hmm okay I'll give credit to them then. Btw is all books on Charles River Media about how to make things in MMF2?
No some of them are about how to make things in TGF2.
This is true. I'm a very happy MMF2 Developer user, and I've got priceless support from Clickteam when technical issues appeared during commercial projects. I've credited Yves, François and Jeff in the "special thanks" and I'll include "Clickteam" in upcoming projects as well.Quote:

My personally favorate is the Trail Period Object. With this I can create Shareware games that will time out and can be opened once the Key is entered. Or, if the game is not unlocked you can hide objects from use and cripple the application.
The following extensions are part of the bonus packs for MMF Dev.
- Email, by z33z
- Masked Edit, by Chris Newhouse (xtraverse)
- Process Viewer, by Chris Newhouse (xtraverse)
- Quick Hash, by Rich Whilding (Herb)
- Regular Expressions, by Chris Branch (FireMonkey)
- SpellChecker, by Jack Webster (Jax)
- XML Parser, by Mokhtar M. Khorshid
On top of all this you can modify the application credits and copyright information (seen when you right click on the app and choose properties) This allows you to list yourself, or your development company/group as the Author. You can include the version number, language, etc...
Don't feel pressured into it if you don't want to. As gamefreak202 mentioned you don't really need to credit them much, however. I just personally think it's a good idea to do so.Quote:

So you may see crediting clickteam as giving them credit, or free advertising or whatever you want...
Personally, I just see it as a way of letting people know that this type of software exists, and that they can potentially make their own games. I'm so happy I found this software, and I think others deserve to know it exists too.
I personally Hate Time Trial Demos that time you out, Iv'e always prefered demos which last forever and only restrict whats availible in the game, such as a lot less levels.Quote:

I actually do NOT like game demos that cripple what they can do. If you cripple the best parts of the game, how are players supposed to know what's fun or not?
Yeah I better like restrictions to what's available in the game than time trial too.
I wish it was the end of this month, I can't wait to buy MMF2 Dev :)
I, on the other hand, prefer demos that have every feature, but time time you out after a month or so.Quote:

Go with standard version if you're just using the program as a hobby. If you're serious and want to sell games, go with the Developer version!
Developer is totally worth it in the long shot, but as Mantoid said, if you're serious about Clickteam programming go with MMF2dev, elsewise pick standard.
I'm serious. But even if I didn't want to sell my applications and games, then I would still buy Developer edition, because I'm that kind of guy who just wants the best of best, can't live with the second best.
Haha, high five!Quote:
