I need help from people that know.
I have bought the book "Make Amazing games in Minutes" by Jason Darby. I want to know if I should buy "Awesome Game Creation Etc." or just mess around with what I have. I am not in this clicking for any reason involving selling games. Just an OldGuy fiddling around, and I have not had a pay day for twenty years. Your opinion will help.
Re: I need help from people that know.
why are you always using the angry icon.
Anyways even though those books are awesome, they won't completely teach you how to make games. Experimenting will. If you keep making a lot of games that you bash and then move on to a new one, then you're pretty much guaranteed success. The more games you make the more you learn from your old mistakes and the more you improve.

I agree
Re: I need help from people that know.
While I do agree, I don't think that you must strictly stick to making games. Applications & utilities are also worth making and will build your experience.
Good luck on your new adventure OldGuy! :)
Re: I need help from people that know.
I don't think there's any point in you buying the other books. It's better for you to learn from your own experiences.

Oops! I didn't mean it like that, sorry Jason ;)
Obviously it's great to have one of the books, but there's not much point in buying the whole range. Once you get started, it's pretty easy to learn the rest yourself.
Re: I need help from people that know.
Some people are book learners and lot to read thru books and follow examples -- Others like to go on and just "do it" themselves.
If oldguy learned a lot from the books and enjoyed it - then perhaps another book would be interesting to him.
The nice thing about the awesome game creation series is it does go thru a number of tools so he might get some exposure ideas that were very different from reading the "click only" book.
Re: I need help from people that know.
I'm in the same position as Oldguy here, the only book I have on programming is JasonDarby's good "Make Amazing Games In Minutes" even though most amazing games in TGF2/MMF2 take months coz most ppl that use it are independant and lazy(like me).
Iv'e been wondering if I should get other books like "Going To War", "Game Creation For Teens", "Awesome Programming" or "Awesome Game Creation" for example.
What game programming book is best for a TGF2/MMF2 using independant developer who likes making all different kind of retro games & knows absolutely nothing about any kind of script programming?
I'd be interested in a book that deals with all kinds of retro games, there are all types of games and most books only explain certain things.
But some people are only interested in certain things, for example: I hate Educational Games but I like...
(Text, Platform, Topdown, Isometric, 1st Person, 3rd Person)
(Stratedgy, Shoot em Up, Adventure, Role-Playing, Bat&Ball, Theme Park, Racing, Puzzle, Flying, Escape-The-Room)
(Science-Fiction, Fantasy, Modern, Historical, Horror, Detective, Action)
(Graphics, Programming, Level Design, Music, Samples, Plot)

I never looked at it closely enough, I did not know it was angry. I switched, but I still like red.
I appreciate everybodies opinions.
10 years ago ZI tried writing games in QuickBasic. All Hard Coding, so it was nice to run onto KnP. BUT, I wrote a game in QB that taught speed reading. Every person that played it at least doubled their reading speed. But sadly, I have found no way to make it using MMF2 and its' fore-runners. I will try it again one of these days.
