Make sure the original image has a transparent (not white, most image editors shoe transparent backgrounds as a grey+white checkerboard) background, and it's saved in a format that supports transparent backgrounds (.png is probably your best bet). It should work. If it doesn't... then it's being random. I dunno.
Also, Alpha isn't supported in TGF2, si if you're using that, you won't get your transparency. But, seeing as you're posting on MMF2 Tech Support, I assume you're using MMF2. So ignore that xP
