Directshow is not cutting it, please make a better extension for playing mp3 files. Directshow seems to have trouble playing 192kbps and anything above. 128kpbs sounds like crap.

There are quite a few object which are capable of playing MP3's
*MPEG
*Quicktime
...list goes on...
Have you tried experimenting with other objects?
ClickTeam cannot do that because there's a license for mp3s. Anyone who makes a mp3 extension is illigal, unless approved by whoever has the license on mp3s.
Good point, that's why we use oggs... and this isn't a problem
I understand clickteam can't make one, but whoever makes one for me, even if illegal, will be compensated. I am desperate for one.
Miniature Audiere sounds like what you want.
I don't know about the Direct Show object. It plays some of my high-bitrate MP3s (200kbps+) but not others. Anyway, OGG is a better choice for games due to its superior audio quality at low bitrates compared to MP3 - as well as no licence fees required.
Chris thanks a lot, I appreciate taking the time to show me an extension that could help. I am creating an application that needs to play mp3 files so users. OGG files I agree are superior otherwise.
Thanks Chris it worked, I think I figured out the issue now on why some mp3 files won't play. For some reason if you include mp3 files with large jpeg files attached to them (adding images in iTunes) directshow & the Mini Audi object won't play them.
Question though, When I build my application, do I have to include the dll file as an external file and have it install in the system32 directory?
you can use Whelchel's sound object (forgot the name) and get the winamp in_mp3.dll plugin to use with it
It's called Onu. :) By the way -- Onu supports winamp DLL's?
Yes, it always did.
That's freaking awesome, really got to try this out
