Grid Widget

This is my first Widget I have submitted.

I created this for a few projects that I am doing. It has served me well for what I have been doing, so I thought I would share with you all :grin:
I made it so that I could duplicate many objects easily in a grid like fashion ( perhaps I should of called it "duplicater on a Grid like scale Widget"...Na! too long :D )

I realize that there is many ways to create grids and that there are extensions to do this but I did not want to use any extensions ( plus I wanted to see if I could do it)

Just drag the Grid Widget onto the frame and change the Alterable Values to suit yor needs. There should be no need to mess with the code in the behavior. Although you could probably do some funky things by adding code in the event editor!

I have commented on changing the Alterable Values and what it means to change them (in the behavior)
Also I made some examples of some possible ideas to use it for

For anybody who may be interested, I have updated my Grid Widget.

I "tweeked" it up a bit and added a couple more features.

Updates:

1. The Grid Widget's size can now be any size/shape.
(In the fist release if you wanted to have spaces in the grid you had to have the Widget squared for it to look right)

2. Added an option to have holes (empty spaces) within the grid

3. The holes can appear "instanly" or as a "delayed effect"

4. Added a few more examples

If anybody does use this Widget , I wouldn't mind knowing how you were able to use it.
(but of course you don't have to tell me ;) )

I would like to see a spacing example, where you have spaces between each column and row.

So i have updated my Grid widget again (well I'm almost finished)
I have added many features, so much that I almost re-coded the whole widget :crazy:

Some of the updates:
- when you create holes (empty spaces) in the grid they can now be either destroyed or invisible

- the option to turn the grid into a backdrop after it's created (thus reducing the number of objects on screen if you just need a nice background)

- Place grids on top of grids (up to 4 maybe more)

- New examples

- added some Templates to make creating special grids a little easier:
1.CheckerBoard ( thanx for your help Looki)
2.Inventory
3.Hexagon
4.ISO/Diamond
5.Maze

And some others that I can't say till i'm done.
So if anybody has any ideas that I could add to make this even better I would love to hear them

Exploding Grid might be nice!

Could you elaborate on that a little more?

I don't think I can really, god knows what I was thinking of at the time? Maybe it was something to do with the grid suddenly breaking and then the block fly around everywhere while there is an explosion in the background or something, idk, i'm silly.

Well,
I'm almost finished. Should be tommorrow sometime.
I am just finishing the examples now.

I'm going to start a new post called "Grid_Plus_Widget"
(because this widget has so much more :grin: )
