As many of you probably already know, I recently suffered a hard disk failure and I'm having to rewrite OINC from a months old backup. Mark from Klikfarm has kindly hosted the latest stable build here and I would recommend using that one until I can update it again.

I think it's a shame that devs don't backup more frequently.
You can schedule a backup to a USB stick/drive every day can't you?
Not retrospectively I can't :P

They have a great backup utility, and I use it to backup all my projects, and its fast :)
I just tested my game using build revert, ran two of them simultaneously on the same computer; One Character is 'Dragonguy' and the other is 'Dragongal', and not only can I not see the other player but I can't hear the other player, I don't know if this is an OINC Error, a Server Error or my misinterpreation on how to use OINC (also an error), can you please figure out whats wrong?
But at least it doesn't freeze!

Jamie, please invest in using a service like Mozy+truecrypt to protect your source. Please tell me our custom extensions are safe?
It was truecrypted, and that's why I lost it. The key data got corrupted, rendering the encrypted information useless.
I'm afraid they aren't - the global dictionary object I can rewrite easily enough if updates are required. The "other one" (don't know if I should mention that in public yet) will take a bit longer.

Ahh truecrypt. I decrypted my hard disk as it was doing way too much work when that was being used.
You could install windows 7 as hd encryption is built in as well as good backup solution.
Partition your hard disk. I wouldn't compile stuff on an encrypted hard disk it's too much work.
What do you mean by that? It's exactly the same as compiling stuff on an unencrypted hard disk.
I don't think the software I use to encrypt it is going to make any difference - encryption still poses a serious problem if anything gets corrupted. I'm just not going to encrypt my HD this time.
Someone I knew lost a lot to a pc failure when they were using encryption too.
It just seems to make things worse. Especially if you don't really have anything to hide anyway.
Only reason I had for encrypting was in case my netbook got lost/stolen.
If you're using online backup there's no reason not to encrypt either. Most services support iterative backups so you also will have multiple versions of what you are backing up.
I've got an SVN server I'm backing up to. I'll probably encrypt again next time I go travelling.
I have two USB2 HDD's I back my stuff up on. Probably not the most secure of methods, but I unplug them from my computers unless I'm actually backing stuff up/retreiving. And... one of them gets locked in the fire safe. :) Maybe I am being a bit too secure. ._.
Oh and please can you fix the ping failure issue in the next build as well as reverse dns options.

No, it isn't. It'd be a security flaw if the peers knew the IP addresses of other peers.
But MOO seemed to do it fine, I just wanted to be able to do it so that Admins in my chat room could know where their clients are coming from, just like Gwerdy you admins can do /ips or /ip to get the IP of the users

It has been pointed out before, it's very unwise to build admin rights into a client environment. This should only be done serverside. Your idea sounds more like a gimmick then something you need inorder to run your chat room.Quote:

I think so, you could consider running your own server and perhaps via POINC add your own features.
The IP features in Gwerdy are implemented in the custom Java server. They're not built into Moo (just like they aren't built into OINC).

OINC uses Python or C++ rather than Java for this purpose.
How exactly does one code a server to refuse certain names, and if possible, to accept connections from only one application (as opposed to any random application with the right name, like for a site-dedicated chatroom)?
