MMF2 & Clickteam Software is tempermental
OK, this has been happening since I first got MMF2 but I just have passed it off as my computer being old. However, it's starting to frustrate me, so I want to see if there is a cure other than a different computer.
Sometimes when I start up MMF2 (after doing a clean boot of sorts) it will crash during initilizing, loading extensions, or it will not even show the splash screen and it will give a memory error. Sometimes (rarely) it can start up but crashes when I open one of the editor views like frame, events, storyboard...
Also, this ties in with not being able to use any clickteam software, or software created with clickteam software. (Even olg TGF1 and MMF1/1.5 games/apps!) All other programs on my computer run perfectly fine without issues, and the only solution I can find is to keep rebooting until I can start up MMF2 successfully. And even then is has it's little memory quirks and such. I really don't know why this only happens with clickteam software, and not any other programs.
I have a rather poor computer, but it still confuses me why small to large complexety programs run fine with my computer all the time and Clickteam software tends to crash. Sometimes it even crashes Dr. Watson Postmortem Program Debugger! If you could help me to put an end to this memory insania, it would definantly save me a lot of things. I have a lot of stuff I need on this computer that isn't going to work on newer computers!
Thanks,
-LB

I don't know
I never get any MMF crashes on any of my computers but I guess they are not junkers. I also never get any reports like what you have posted from the 1000's of people and schools using MMF and other Clickteam products.
Not sure where even to start but is this just on one of your computers or every computer you try to use it on?
Re: MMF2 & Clickteam Software is tempermental
Never had any issues either...
Maybe get a new computer?
Re: MMF2 & Clickteam Software is tempermental
I am still running MMF2 on a 486 win98 machine for testing purposes. Never had problems so far.

Have you tried a clean installation of Windows? Maybe swap out your current hard drive with another one and try it out. The old stuff might be interfering.

Like the other above, I've never had issues like what you mention, however, regarding the issue above, I do remember Yves and/or Francois saying that if this happens it can be down to a bad extension. The next time you do a fresh install of MMF, install extensions one by one and check to see if the error happens. If it does, the previously installed extension may very well be the problem.
Re: MMF2 & Clickteam Software is tempermental
Check for bad blocks, maybe there is a bad block in the location MMF2 is installed.
Also, try installing and running MMF in another drive (or maybe even a pendrive)
Also, run a RAM check tool and try assessing the processor temperature.
If all else fails, verify windows' integrity, or even reinstall it.
Re: MMF2 & Clickteam Software is tempermental
as many of the others. I've used MMF for many years. I've never had a problem starting up.
If MMF is the only program you are having problems with it does sound like it will be a dodgey extension. Try disabling the 3rd party extensions and test.

Re: MMF2 & Clickteam Software is tempermental
LB what are the specs of your computer maybe the answer is there, people with no problems can compare specs to your's and that might tell the problem.
Every year since I've used MMF 1.0 [KNP and TGF never really ever crashed on me...] I've either upgraded ram in my computer or upgraded to a more powerful computer and O.S. altogether, and I've had less and less crashes and weird behaviors until present day with a [color:#CC0000]new Computer Dual Core Processor and Windows Vista Service Pack 1 with 3 GB of Ram and a GeForce 8 series graphics card I have ->NEVER<- had MMF 2 crash since those specs I just wrote...[/color]

You have spyware ?

Re: MMF2 & Clickteam Software is tempermental
We already have anti-spyware and anti-virus software.
What specs should I post? EG the ones in My Computer's properties, some other specs from somewhere else, ?
Re: MMF2 & Clickteam Software is tempermental
I don't think computer specs matter. As I stated earlier, I am running MMF2 for testing on Win98, 486, 333mhz. It runs fine, although slow.

Re: MMF2 & Clickteam Software is tempermental
You probably have a rootkit or something.. just format.
Re: MMF2 & Clickteam Software is tempermental
486 333mhx? whoa, that takes me back! lol i loved that series of computer with the dx math co-processor. Wow.
Re: MMF2 & Clickteam Software is tempermental
We bought in the UK when we lived there. Brought the pieces back when we came to the US and reassembled it in another box. It is a MMX.
A lot of memories...

Re: MMF2 & Clickteam Software is tempermental
If it is 333MHz, it will be a Pentium II, not a 486. The fastest 486 was only 100 MHz, and "MMX" was a Pentium thing anyhow.
Re: MMF2 & Clickteam Software is tempermental
Thank you Dynasoft. It is a 333 mmx 486 based unit.
