Want list for Update #2
I just thought I would throw in a few ideas on things that would be great if they were included in update #2 of the .swf exporter.
1. The ability to export flash light files. This way we could create content for Flash-ready mobile devices, such as Android 2.2 smartphones, IPhones, etc...
2. The ability to import third party AS3 API files and call their functions from inside MMF2. I started a post related to this at: http://www.clickteam.com/epicenter/ubbthreads.php?ubb=showflat&Main=26510&Number=1949 32#Post194932. This would allow us to use APIs from Newgrounds, GamerSafe, etc... in our products and access their services and features. If this were done seperate extensions would not have to be created for each third party that we wanted to use their APIs.
3. The web browser extension ported so we could create such things as online newspapers, magazines, etc... that have rss feeds and also allow us to use web page content in our products.
4. Some kind of a particle system.
I know. Everything cannot be added immediately without causing a long delay before update #2 is released. I just thought I would start a "wish" list.
Besides, I would rather have more frequent updates with each update containing fewer improvements and fewer new capabilities (such as the capabilities mentioned above) rather then having to wait a long time for one big update that contained a lot of new features and improvements.
Feel free to add to the list.
Jason

Box 2D is probably not going to be converted.

Why?
-
Re: Want list for Update #2
Because it has already been established that it would be a tremendous amount of work to convert it to flash.

Re: Want list for Update #2
Actually Box2D has already been converted to the Push Button Game Engine which is a flash game engine. Converting it to flash can be done. Here is a link describing the Push Button Engine. You will find a reference to physics via Box2D listed in the features section.

Re: Want list for Update #2
That's why I thought it would be good in the first place, since it is already in lots of flash games and there is already an open source port of it:

Re: Want list for Update #2
is it possible for us to use the zoom in and zoom out actions with the flash exporter?
-
Re: Want list for Update #2
Or a fullscreen option? A few flash games actually allow you to go fullscreen. I don't know how they work though.

Re: Want list for Update #2
Box2DFlashAS3 is one of the reasons i wanted a AS3 coding object, this is just one of many great library's also. Being able to link with actionscript library's would add so much more power to MMF flash.
Having standard extensions for AS3 library's would be good however means the time for them to happen is much longer. For that reason i think a general AS3 coding object that did not need to have exe versions of everything would be much better. It would also be a lot less work for developers if a library was already made for something.
I know MMF is about not having to code however there is nothing to stop people that can from posting some widget or example etc that anyone could use. Also as said it would give the plugin so much more power and also allow advanced users to code basically anything they wanted. This would be the best extension you could have for the plugin in my opinion and i hope it happens some time.

I'd love some more ink effects and a HWA version... not sure if either of those are possible though...

Would really love to see this, especially for flash videos. But Yves already stated that this would be too complicated. So i wouldn`t count on it.

Re: Want list for Update #2
We still have a problem to open a new browser window if a pop up blocker is active. Do I remember right, there's already some kind of solution in sight?
-
Re: Want list for Update #2
I don't know; but I would disagree with that. If there were solutions to get around popup blockers, then popup blockers would be useless.
-
Re: Want list for Update #2
JoKa there is solution on the forums. I'm using it and few other klikers also, and yes it get around popup blockers at least some of them.

Re: Want list for Update #2
Do you refer to this topic ?
It was just a test for the various ways to open a url with the Flash Object. The results show that it may work or not, but there's no solution for the problem.
@Jacob
It's not about disrespecting users, non-MMF Flash developers just don't have this problem. It could make MMF-created games less interesting for sponsors.

Re: Want list for Update #2
Yeap that one. And like for me it was and is working perfectly.

Not quite HWA but another thing AS3 can do is link to pixelbender effects which basically allow the same type of results as HWA effects.
As well as this AS3 also allows for 3D graphics and basically most other things people are asking for in this forum area. If not a AS3 coding extension anytime soon maybe clickteam would be interested in making a extension that can load pixelbender effects similar to MMF HWA.

Re: Want list for Update #2
Further clarification on #3 (porting the web browser object for web pages). There is a way of opening up web pages from inside MMF2 (this link tells how: http://www.clickteam.com/epicenter/ubbthreads.php?ubb=showflat&Number=192506&page=1).
This way opens up a target web page in a browser. What I was thinking about was something more in the neighborhood of being able to display a entire web page (or part of one) inside an MMF2 project. Also, the ability to get an .rss or .xml web feed and display the contents inside an MMF2 project.

We mentioned this one a few posts above. May work or not.

Re: Want list for Update #2
Does CT want to offer and insights as to what they are working on and what we can expect for Update #2 as well as a possible time frame of when it might be released?

Re: Want list for Update #2
CT does not have a release date for Update #2. So far just bug fixes.

This. Currently, it is rather unfortunate that due to this limitation, I won't be buying the Flash runtime as it is absolutely crucial this is addressed for a project of mine. Of course, I know it isn't all about me me me (lol), but I'm sure there are others who would want this feature.

Whilst I don't feel Yves or Francois could directly implement something to help with this issue, I feel that if they added some kind of ActionScripting functionality, it would be very much possible to write scripts to fix it instead.
