Where can I download the raycast extension ? I've read that it's included with that klik disc thing but I assume it's available somewhere else.

The only way to get the raycaster extension is to buy the october 2009 issue of klikdisc
Seriously ?
That klik disk thing is...pointless,and forcing people to buy a cd that consists mostly of stuff that is available for free just because of an extension feels like a blatant rip-off.
But oh well, if he made the extension that's his right and he can do whatever he wants with it.
The cost of the CD attempts to recover the cost of making the extension. So far the sales of the CDs has not amounted enough to pay for what the extensions cost to make.
Don't think its worth it? Don't purchase it.
You can always pick up C++ and just remake the extension.
I don't want to be too harsh, but I don't know how you expected to recover the costs by selling the extension in those CDs. It would probably be much better to sell the extension separately for a shorter price or simply release it for free like Lacewing and OpenGL for example.
The klik disc thing makes very little sense to me (and not surprisingly, I'm not the only one to think this way) it's not that expensive but it's just isn't worth it (btw I'm not talking exclusively about the edition with the raycaster extension on it, I'm talking about the whole thing).
The raycaster extension could be a really nice addition to mmf2, but by selling it in the klik disc you made sure you lost money while very few people actually had the extension.
Just my 2 cents.
I was curious to check out the raycaster extension, but since I can't, oh well, no big deal, there are other raycaster engines. I just think it's a shame something that could be a good selling point for mmf2 was treated so poorly.
Not to steal this thread, but didn't I read some place in the forum that we now have the capibility for placing a ceiling with the Raycasting Extension?
Thanks
Marv
really? I havnt seen any raycasting examples in MMF ever.Quote:

What I'm thinking and I'm sure NG2 is too, is that what is the point in putting so much time and effort into an extension, if no one is really using it anyway?
Personally, if I made an extension, I'd either give it out for free, or give out trial versions for free with an affordable version that has more options or whatever. I want my accomplishments known, as do most people.
Maybe I'm wrong, but I'm still curious as to how many people even have bought Klikdisc.
EDIT: also, if you have a large user base that is using your extensions, you can hope to recieve donations, or even advertise that donations are accepted at certain location, and your money would be made back anyway.
I have bought every Klikdisc but one.
I also bought all of them and always left some Feedback and Klikdisc concept is very old one and IMHO is a great deal if it would be used properly.
I have bought all of them.

uprize: hum... I wasn't talking about mmf2 "engines" or examples.
btw perhaps you should look closely: http://create-games.com/download.asp?id=7372 first example I thought of, plus it's open source.
Fanotherpg: Exactly, that's a very old idea, but that's definitely not a good thing, at least in this case it's not.
This could be a good idea around 15 years ago, when broadband connections were still relatively rare, but nowadays it doesn't make sense. Take out all the stuff you can download for free pretty much everywhere, and tell me how what's left is ever worth 9$?
You're right, it is worth much, much more than that!Quote:

You honestly think that 2 tutorials + 5 articles (none of them being even slightly interesting to me, but let's pretend they are of someone's interest) are worth more than 9$ (+4$ for shipping) ?...
Yes.

NG2 - If its not worth it don't buy it, pretty easy.
If the issue with the extension is worth it then buy that one.
If not pick up the SDK and make your own raycaster extension.
Its all downloadable for free as you say and it is not worth $9 for the work put in the extension by all means go make your own.
I don't see the problem.
