Sponsors & Licenses

Hello everyone,

Well first of all i've got 10 games on Mochiads, the oldest being 128 days old, the most recent being 8.
Now dispite making a total of $491.84 making anything from $5 - $20 a day

Now due to the limitations of the SWF/Flash Runtime for MMF2 i'm pretty sure i'm limited to just MochiAds at this time.

But my friend (a long time flash game developer) said the big money is in getting sponsored or selling the licenses.

I'm just wondering if anyone has had any luck with that while using MMF2, as I get lots of offers from people to buy my games but i'm too worried that due to the current limitations that I wont be able to add "their ads" or whatever it is that they want me to do.

In an ideal world I'd like to get paid to release a version of my game with their splash screen and a link on the title screen to their site, and then do the same for another site, but i'm just so unsure of it.

Of course the money from MochiAds is nothing to moan at, its fantastic, but sometimes I have to wonder if its being wasted on MochiAds, or for the now being i'm stuck with it.

So please, let me know if you have any advice.

Note: I'd also like to add that i've been on sites like flashgamedistribution, but feel i'm way over my head, all this API and different types of licenses, its all very confusing.

That's encouraging to hear you are doing so well with Mochiads.
May I ask what games do you have on the site?...I would like to check them out

Keep in mind all these games are below my normal standards, I can certainly say i'm NOT proud of them. You may even notice G.I Jane & Mr Mine use tgf/mmf library graphics.

Dizzy Turtle and Ted The Bear were however made by my Wife using Flash and not MMF2.

I'm taking a lot of time with my next game though, which is comming along really well (i'm hoping it will show a noticeable difference in revenue)

I know that forum member Evilized79 has had MMF2 games sponsored.

There are threads on this forum about incorporating MMF2 SWFs into SWFs created with Adobe Flex (the open source ActionScript compiler).

We had started making moves on creating an AS3 preloader, and I have plans to create a template which would enable MMF2 users to easily create Flash/AS3 preloaders and include sponsors' ads, etc.

Unfortunately, I can't dedicate enough time to this project at the moment; it will be end of August and heading into September when I can sit down and put some effort into it.

In the meantime, if you have a game good enough for sponsoring, then go for it; the worst that can happen is that you tell a potential sponsor that you cannot currently accommodate their requirements.

I've got a game up for sponsorship at the moment and all i've added in to the comments section is that I can't include any API's or a different highscore system to the Mochi one. Doesn't appear to be a problem with sponsors so far.

how well is it doing?

$250 so far but bidding only started 2 weeks ago (recommendation is to wait 6 weeks) and i've made a shed load of changes suggested by one of the sponsors. The more experienced chaps on the forums reckon anywhere between $600-$2,000... we shall see!

out of curiosity where do you have it up for sponsorship, i am interested in testing the water in this area
