My most recent upload to MochiGames has consistently shown higher activity than the other games I've uploaded.
Usually, by very early morning, I have seen hundreds of impressions on this game. Then, to my surprise, this morning I noticed that the number of impressions was a FRACTION of the norm.
Also, i noted that in this game, I was seeing 7 or 8 game plays per session, and suddenly, today, that dropped down as well.
Does anyone have any insight into what might be going on?
Where were the impressions coming from? From MochiGames or from some other site in Mochi distribution?
The bulk of them were from MochiGames... I'll examine the hosts report and see if I can get data that might be helpful.
Generally, the impressions obviously correlate with visibility that your game is getting on the sites, so this kind of sudden fluctuation in volumes may just be due to the fact that one site had your game featured on front page and after a while they replace it with another game.
For example, one of my game which has been live for 145 days but gained over half of all its impressions in just 1 day. So like 60% of impressions in 0.7% of time.
i know what you're saying, but from the looks of the reports I saw a few days ago, mochi was the primary, with some impressions coming from MANY other hosts. I cant get the reports to load at all today, so I can't confirm at the moment.
Yeah, got the reports to load... it has been the vast bulk played at mochigames, but another site had quite a bit too.
All in all, i cant understand what the heck happened. 7 days of what I consider very good activity, only to wake up on the 8th day and have next to nothing. That does kind of indicate it was on a front page for a week or something... Who knows.
I actually experienced the same thing, recently - my upload of a new game seemed to cause a significant drop in total impressions! Not for just that game, but for another one that had been pretty consistent up until then. I had wondered whether I had knocked the previous game off the "top" of my queue and that it therefore wasn't getting the promotion that it used to, but I think it's likely just coincidence.
Treasure Tower was getting about 2,600 daily for a week (this is months after its initial upload), then dropped to 1,700 and then 1,100 the day after I uploaded a newer game.
I'm not actually seeing numbers that high, my best day was just at 1000 (2nd day I think). But they hovered around 950+ every day. Today, it's 90 so far. big drop, since by this time I was usually at about 500.
They shrink over time but usually not that drastically, perhaps there's been something going on.
If it's only Mochigames.com, then it's possible that your game's MochiPOP score has been lowered from some reason and this affects the visibility/reachability of your game on the site. Previously, it's been easier to find among all games and in its category, now it's further back. That's my guess what could've happened, of course it may be some technical issue as well.
