MOCHI WARNING

Hey guys, if you are using Mochi ads, you might want to look into your game's analytic and ad reports.

Color Collector(shameless GB advertising), the game I just got sponsored, has mochi ads, my sponsor's logo, and a link to this site.
I was checking the analytic reports, and 2 chinese sites, 4399.com and 3839.com, had the most views. However, when I looked in the ads report, they didn't account for ANY of the revenue coming in from ads, so I took a look at their sites and found my game:

These versions of my game have never been publicly released with my consent, and appear to have been modified, because I never built a file like that one.

I have sent Mochi an email, which supposively will be responded to within 24 hours, so when I hear back, I'll let you guys know. Meanwhile, I thought I'd warn you guys, and you might want to check and see if this has been done to you.

That's not relevant to this conversation. What is important is that Mochi somehow let their affiliates modify my game without my permission, and if they did it to me, it could've happened to anyone else. If they removed the ads, they could've removed the analytics in a different version, and perhaps the game would've made a ton of money, but I'll never know.

Just giving you all the heads up, be cautious.

It happens all the time - Chinese sites modify your game to take out the ads and then post the games on their sites ad-free. This is why mochi has struck a deal with Chinese sites to allow the games to retain their ads. Try using that?

Why should I do that? I simply do not want them hosting my game the way are now, which sounds very illegal. Can someone verify the legality of it, anyone who knows law?
I don't see how modifying someone's work and eliminating the signs of whoever created it is legal. They have no right to claim my game as their own.

I know it's illegal and should be stopped, but unless you can find some international police or local Chinese police you're pretty much out of luck I think.

I can do that later, but it is not my responsibility to make a game for their site. I make my own games, if they want to host my game, that's fine, but they aren't above the law. I contacted Mochi, we will see how they respond, and if they can't help, I'll do what I can with these sites myself.

EDIT: also, keep in mind that these sites aren't the only ones to blame. Mochi gave them an old version of the game, it has a button that I took out for the final version. That being said, Mochi had to have given them one of the actual files, not the Live Updates one that points to the latest version.

You could create a black list with these domains and end your game once they're detected as hosts. I remember some years ago CT created a "Make my game" extension. Maybe CT can port it, so we could quickly make an alternative game mode for blacklisted sites ;)

We already had topics about sitelocks here and there, if you want some technical info.

Thank you, those would help for sitelocking, and blacklisting some sites, but the problem is that these Chinese sites already have my game. They took it out of Live Updates, and it's out of my control. I can't do anything now, they have remote versions of my game.

Hi Eliyahu. Sad indeed, but you can go after the originater (Mochi), but you will be unable to do anything outside the US. In my old job I got tired of chasing ghosts (useless quests to snag the little hefers). That is the reason I went to a sitting job for forensics.
