Licensing question for TGF2
Hey there.
I've been around clickteam programs for a while but I was never sure of the licensing. Are you allowed to sell your games?
Speaking of which, what is the policy on retired software and their licenses? Now that they are retired, are you allowed to sell games made with those?
Not that it would be easy to make a commercial game in, say, Klik & Play (probably be easier in TGF1, also retired), but if you did, what's the deal with that?
I was poking around the Clickteam website and couldn't seem to find this info.
Also, does TGF2 allow TGF1 plugins? Just something I was curious about.
Re: Licensing question for TGF2
Yes, you are allowed to sell your games. If you do not have MMF2 Developer you must include the CT logo and credit CT.
No, TGF does not allow plugins (extensions).

Re: Licensing question for TGF2
Yes, you can sell your games, but you need to credit Clickteam somehow (unless you're using MMF2 developer, but many people do anyway). The help file has the details, and I'm sure someone will chime in here too.
The retired software is just unsupported by Clickteam, as far as I know the existing license to sell games made with it still applies.
TGF2 does not allow plugins at all. TGF1 was a complete product, followed by MMF1. TGF2 is the "cheap" version of MMF2. MMF2 can load old plugins (MMF1 only?) to open old games, but it can't run anything that uses them, they have to be removed.
Re: Licensing question for TGF2
Aww, that sucks. : (
So in other words, if I go from TGF to TGF2 I'll lose compatibility with MooClick, the String Parser, and all the other good plugins that TGF1 has?
I see no reason to upgrade to TGF2 then.
And I don't really care for MMF, TGF works fine for what I do.
Also, is there any way at all to purchase a pro license for TGF1?
Re: Licensing question for TGF2
I've done some reading, I didn't realise TGF1 didn't allow selling games without a pro license. If you can't get an agreement with Clickteam for a pro license, you'll have to upgrade to at least MMF2 standard and port your game. Not ideal, I know.
Re: Licensing question for TGF2
Well I guess my option here is to either wait for a clickteam guy to respond or email them, huh?
Re: Licensing question for TGF2
We no longer sell TGF1 Pro, sorry...
But wait... you plan to sell your program and you hesitate for $60? (differency between TGF2 and MMF2) So you plan to earn less than $60 for your application? If so it's not worth the hassle, just release it for free.
PS: TGF2 supports Mooclick, but no other 3rd party objects.
Re: Licensing question for TGF2
That's not the point at all. I like TGF and the plugins I have for it, as well as some that I have made exclusively for TGF myself.
I'd GLADLY pay $60 for a TGF1 Pro license, if that's the problem. I just don't see the need to upgrade to a new(ish) interface and lose a lot of my compatibility because I'm using a slightly old but still perfectly working program.
Re: Licensing question for TGF2
Why don;t you finish up that one game/application, then you can get MMF2 Standard?
Re: Licensing question for TGF2
It's not just one game/application, it's the fact that I've spent years with TGF1 and have made my own extensions for it, some of which I don't even have the source available to anymore.
I guess my only regret is not getting a pro license before it was retired. :/ If there was a way though, I'd definately do it. I'm stubborn as far as sticking to things and TGF happens to be one of those things.
