MMF2 Build 250 (BETA #1)
Hi everyone,
A beta version of the build #250 is available :
MMF2 Standard
MMF2 Developer
Be careful it's a beta version, make backup copies of your applications before loading them with this version.
Let us know if any problem with this build. If no problem is reported, this version will be the official build 250.
Thanks !
Yves.
EDIT: in case of any unexpected issue in this build, reinstall the build #249
New features and bug fixes in this version
- UI : new "Build & Run" button and menu entry. This command builds the application and runs it, if possible (for example if the application is a Flash application it will build the SWF/HTML file and run the HTML file in a browser). This feature was available in the previous version if you press the CTRL key when you run the application (this shortcut key is still available). It was extended to other build types in this version (EXE, screen saver, etc).
- UI : a sharing violation error could happen sometimes when saving applications after running them. This bug should not happen anymore.
- Property window : context menu commands were always disabled when the window was not docked.
- Picture editor : the "confirmation" message displayed when you click the X in the title bar is now also displayed when you click the Cancel button.
- Event editor : possible crash when you create or edit a Group Is Activated condition and a group name has more than 75 characters.
- Event editor : when you copy/paste a protected group, the copy couldn't be opened anymore.
- Events : there was a compatibility issue between English, French and Japanese MFA files, some objects hadn't the same internal type name in those versions, this would cause some problems especially in global events and behaviors. The new version restores the correct type names in the language of the version of MMF2, a MFA saved with the English version should work the same when you load it with the Japanese version.
- Animation Object : Previous Frame action now works.
- Animation Object : an error message was displayed if the filename was empty and the "display error messages" option selected in the properties.
- Animation Object : wrong remapping in 256-color applications with .GIF files that contain local palettes.
- Counter and String objects : the "Display as background" option is now unselected by default when you create a new object.
- Runtime : Set Position did not fix the orientation of the object when "orientation/in direction of object" was checked
- Runtime : when the automatic rotation of the object is enabled, the angle of the image used to be different from an actual direction.
- Runtime : when the automatic rotation of the object is enabled with a one frame animation object, the initial direction was not displayed.
- Mobile Font object (Java Mobile runtime) : resized applications that contain Mobile Font objects could crash on mobile phone unless you re-import the font in the object. The crash should be fixed in this version, in theory, however it's still recommended to re-import the font, for a better result.
- Counter object (Java runtimes) : red and blue components were exchanged in the value returned by the Get Color function.
- Counter object (Java runtimes) : Get Color #2 returns the first color.
- String object (Java runtimes) : clicks on a String object were triggered when you click on the left of a string.
- New "In And Out" movement : The InAndOut movement allows objects to enter and leave the frame in a nicely manner. More info in the help file of the movement extensions.
- Flash : the fixes for the SWF exporter are intalled by the new update of the SWF exporter posted in the SWF Exporter forum.

Re: MMF2 Build 250 (BETA)
Before anyone asks about the AS Dynamics (ActionScript) object -
AS Dynamics is not part of the build 250. It depends on a new feature which has been added in build 250, and it will be released separately in the next few weeks, when I have the time to finalize and release it.

Re: MMF2 Build 250 (BETA)
Update: I forgot to mention Francois has added a new "In And Out" movement in this build. More info in help file of the movement extensions.

Re: MMF2 Build 250 (BETA)
Thanks for the update. Very nice! :D

Re: MMF2 Build 250 (BETA)
There is a problem, just installed it and when i try to build i get this:
For mmf2 HWA
C:\........\Data\Runtime\HWA\Inchrt.exe was not found
For normal mmf2
C:\........\Data\Runtime\Inchrt.exe was not found
-
Re: MMF2 Build 250 (BETA)
The patch doesn't install HWA files, so if it says that the HWa version of this file is missing then that's because someone else removed it.
What anti-virus program do you use? Maybe it has removed this file? I've tested lnchrt.exe for this build on virustotal and there is no false alarm though, that's weird...
PS: you can avoid this message if you uncheck the "Compress the runtime" option in the properties of the application, in this case lnchrt.exe is not used.

Re: MMF2 Build 250 (BETA)
Hi Yves,
The decelleration bug is still there. Once changed you cannot reset it to 0 really. The active will loose speed afterwards when you reset the decelleration value to 0. Example of the bug can be found here:

Re: MMF2 Build 250 (BETA)
Well, you reported it less than a week ago, give a little time to Francois to fix it. ;) :)
-
Re: MMF2 Build 250 (BETA)
No pressure. Just wanted to be sure that it doesn`t get lost. Take your time :)
-
Re: MMF2 Build 250 (BETA)
Thanx for the great update
I'm loving the New "In And Out" movement, it really helps simplify something I am doing in my current game.

Re: MMF2 Build 250 (BETA)
This update is great thanks :)
I have a few suggestions for the new InAndOut Movement Controller object -
Actions - Set Direction
Conditions - Is Moving? (Can Negate)
Conditions - Is At Start?
Conditions - Is At End?
Expressions - Percent Done (0-100)
When you use the move in/out action it should maybe ask for a duration also. I think these additions would be great for the object so hopefully you will like these suggestions.
---
By the way did you plan to update or allow new anti-alias modes for smoother graphics in MMF2 as i know a lot of people don't like the results of the current version much. Or would that only happen for MMF3?
A recent thread about it -

Re: MMF2 Build 250 (BETA)
Thanks for the suggestions!
There won't be any change in the anti-aliasing option in MMF2, sorry... I don't know yet what we'll do in MMF3.
-
Re: MMF2 Build 250 (BETA)
This sounds good - some valuable fixes here. I'm looking forward to giving it a spin.
Does it support Hardware Acceleration?
... And has anyone been able to make Save/Load Frame Position a little more reliable?

Re: MMF2 Build 250 (BETA)
The HWA version is not updated by this patch, there will be a specific patch later for the HWA version.
-
Re: MMF2 Build 250 (BETA)
Hello!
There's still a bug with the String object -> Background options -> Wipe with color. This option does not work when application runs.
Thank you for the update and for your hard work! :)

Re: MMF2 Build 250 (BETA)
Sure, I'm with you, but can I just use the existing HWA with build 250? - Just so I know before I install.
-
Re: MMF2 Build 250 (BETA)
Yes, you can still use HWA.

Is there a way to disable the new picture editor confirmation? I can't find it in the preferences. T_T

Re: MMF2 Build 250 (BETA)
The path movement bug is fixed in the next update.
We'll try to fix the bug in drag & drop movement.
The problem with the screen capture object is not a bug, it's just the way it works currently. The "Automatic Capture / Capture selected area" option works only in automatic capture mode. When you manually capture an area you have to define the coordinates of the area via the events. We'll change that in MMF3 to allow you to define the default capture area in the frame editor even for the manual mode (it seems a bit complicated to do it in the current version).

Re: MMF2 Build 250 (BETA)
Great work. Thanks!

Re: MMF2 Build 250 (BETA)
Great new update! In and Out movement: great! Simple but great! And I think its very useful for games and for applications!
One problem so far (maybe its not a problem and just my fault but: I cant see the "build and run" button in hwa, only in standard mmf.
thx

Re: MMF2 Build 250 (BETA)
The patch for the HWA version is not released yet, still a couple of things to fix.
-
Re: MMF2 Build 250 (BETA)
That's because HWA hasn't been updated yet...
EDIT: Beaten!
-
Re: MMF2 Build 250 (BETA)
Whilst you are at it, maybe it would be a good idea to allow capture into various formats such as .gif .jpg .bmp .tif etc?
Mentioning it as I need to grab and save as .gif.
just a thought.
-
Re: MMF2 Build 250 (BETA)
You could use the Image Manipulator object.
Save the capture to the clipboard and then load it via the manipulator and save it to where you want it.

Re: MMF2 Build 250 (BETA)
Amazingly hot update! Thanks for the awesome work, guys. :)

When MMF2 game is fullscreen, other windows are moved to the second monitor.
Can this problem be fixed?

Re: MMF2 Build 250 (BETA)
I haven't found how to fix it yet.

Re: MMF2 Build 250 (BETA)
"Jump to frame" action might doesn't work occasionally. It is time when it chose the frame from the frame selector.
However, it works fine when specifying it by using the expression.
-
Re: MMF2 Build 250 (BETA)
That sounds weird... Could you send me an example when that happens again?
-
Re: MMF2 Build 250 (BETA)
Yes, but, I don't know when happen to it.
It worked fine when returned it to "Jump to frame" after "Jump to frame" action was replaced to "Next or Previous frame" and the application was executed.

Re: MMF2 Build 250 (BETA)
I would like to suggest something maybe im missing but i cannot find. Its about scores and counter alignment. By default the scores and counter are right aligned, it could be aligned left and center too.
Just my 2 cents :)
