PatchMaker - Renamed Files Issue
Hi,
I have a question. I'm trying to patch a game to a newer version. Several of my files are nearly identical (some are even identical). The only difference is that the filename has changed between versions.
For example, in the old game version, there's a file called Images.gfx but in the new version, the file is called Sprites.gfx. In this case, Patch Maker will remove Images.gfx and include the full file for Sprites.gfx, because it doesn't know that they are the same file. This uses a lot of unnecessary space.
So, is there any way to tell Patch Maker that a certain file has been renamed and simply point it to the new file? if not, can this functionality be added in the future?
Another convenient feature would be if you could click on blue files in the list (new files to be added) and tell Patch Maker not to include that file in the Patch (in case there are temp files in your directory).
Thanks!
Re: PatchMaker - Renamed Files Issue
Hi,
Unfortunately you can't tell Patch Maker a file has been renamed. It's in the wish list for the next version but hasn't been implemented yet.
There will be an option to exclude files in the next version.
Re: PatchMaker - Renamed Files Issue
Thanks a lot for the information, Yves. I haven't been keeping up to date with this, so sorry it it's asked a lot in the past, but do you have an estimate of when the next version will be available?
I really want to buy PatchMaker, but would rather do so once the new version is ready with those features. Thanks.
Re: PatchMaker - Renamed Files Issue
I can't give you a date yet, sorry. It has been progressing nicely recently but a couple of important features haven't been implemented yet. The current target date is still 1st quarter next year but this version has already been delayed in the past so I can't promise anything...
