Import Graphics Crop Glitch?
Also occurs in the Newgrounds Game Factory edition.
When I import a graphic, from flash (as PNG format) and import it into the graphic editor, i crop it (as it has all the stage from flash saved with it). However, although it looks like its cropped - it isnt.
This is especially noticeable when you flip your graphics to use as left/right. If you look at the thumbnails you can see it hasnt really cropped properly which causes problems when your turning left/right in the game.
I fixed it by cropping in photoshop but its a bit of a pain.
Is this known or just me? thanks.
Re: Import Graphics Crop Glitch?
Is this because the hotspot of the image isn't in the right place? The hotspot is the point it uses to match up the different images in the same animation.
Re: Import Graphics Crop Glitch?
Imprted PNGs may have an alpha channel that extends beyond what is visible to your eyes in the editor.
Try selecting all (Control-A) in the image editor, this usually reveals the image without the overlaying Alpha Channel. If you want to investigate more, there's a 'Transparency' button in the editor that takes you to an Alpha-channel editor.
It would be a huge mistake if the auto-crop deleted the alpha channel image, so it's intended to act this way. It's a very useful feature as you can use it to get smooth edges with your actives.
Re: Import Graphics Crop Glitch?
Ill take a look. It took me ages to figure out that it wasnt cropping properly, i messed around with hotspots which didnt do much.
They were using alpha channels so maybe thats why.
Re: Import Graphics Crop Glitch?
TGF doesn't allow alpha channeled images.
