Moo is outdated. It has been replaced with Lacewing.
And you can certainly host your own Lacewing server!
How would you do that?
The Lacewing Server object can either host its own server from within MMF2, or you could use the dedicated Lacewing Server program to set up a stand-alone server.

And the answer to your original question is yes, you can host your own moo server.
I'd still recommend using lacewing instead, it's much better.

128, from 0 to 127.
why is that? I thought moo had unlimited sub channels...
Nope, if it's numbered, there's a limit. The limit in this case is chosen to keep the size of the network packet as small as possible.
