new bee question on flash
hi,
sorry to ask,
with the swf format i have HTML document, this holds all of the information to how to display the swf file 1kb.
correct?
i also have the swf file. this file is a adobe flash format file with no instructions on how to display the file.
Correct?
If i want to post a link specific to flash swf format what do i need to do in order to have the file correctly displayed?
sorry, I do not know
could you please help.
Re: new bee question on flash
When you build your application as SWF, MMF saves in fact two files : the SWF itself, and an html file with the necessary instructions to display the SWF correctly.
If you want to create another html file, copy the html code from the page into it.
Re: new bee question on flash
Sorry again, but if i want to post a link to the file.
Do i upload the html file only?
Then post the html file link?
Re: new bee question on flash
You'll need to upload both of them. The html file embeds the flash file inside it, so when your browser reads the html file, it goes and looks for the flash file to load into the page.
Re: new bee question on flash
thanks, but i will have two separate links.
The html file link and the flash file link.
Could provide the steps needed.
Sorry im lost.
Re: new bee question on flash
Upload both, then link to the html. The html references the swf, so that ends up getting loaded too.
Re: new bee question on flash
Re: new bee question on flash
hmme i uploaded both of the files.
i copied the link and tryed to access the link.
However the html file opens but the swf hangs, i waited for over ten minutes the file just sits there.
I am using box.net to upload both of the files.
Does anyone else use box.net to upload html, swf files?
Could you please help.
If you could give instructions.
Than you
Re: new bee question on flash
Hi
Could you post the link so we can see what's wrong?
Re: new bee question on flash
Box.net is a place that you upload files to or download files from. It isn't a webserver, that is, it won't host the html files for you in the way that you want.
Re: new bee question on flash
no i do not want them to host the html file.
I want to upload the files done this.
Now i want to get a link to the files, however there are two separate files both with there own link.
What i think i need is for the html file to have access to the swf file.
I am unfamiliar with the correct way to do this.
I have contacted the support team at box.net.
But if you know the correct way please let me know.
Re: new bee question on flash
Box.net will display SWF Files automatically. But unfortunately, it doesn't always display them correctly. I think your best bet is getting a webserver or making your own webserver with Lacewing.
I know you don't want them to host the html file, but that is essentially what you are having them do anyway.
Maybe it would be easier to help you if you could explain what exactly you want your user experience to be? Do you want them to be able to view this swf from Box.net, or do you want them to download it?
Re: new bee question on flash
ok i give up.
could a forum user or clicteam please help.
If you have swf for mmf2 i would like to post a link on this forum, that will open!
Could another forum user who has sucessfully posted a link please help.
1. the upload service you used.
2. what steps are required to allow the html file to access the swf file.
Basicly how to do this as i am getting know where.
I have tried but each time the swf file just sits and hangs and does not load.
I am doing something wrong and i need this help.
Sorry for my inexperience.
Re: new bee question on flash
From looking at other users posts within the swf file forum.
each file link relates to each separate users own web page.
Is this correct?
look im realy new to this and need the help.
i have my first swf file demo using mmf2, i would like to post a link so other members can play the game demo.
Here in the swf forum.
How to do this?
I do not have a web page i would not know were to start.
I need help!!!
any one please!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Re: new bee question on flash
The reason it isn't working has been given.
You need to upload BOTH the HTML file and the SWF file into a web directory. The reason why it isn't working on box.net is because you are uploading each file separately, and the html page doesn't know where to reference the swf file from.
To get it working you will need to find some web hosting that will allow you to upload both of the files into the one directory.
Re: new bee question on flash
Thank you RhysD.
now i know i need web hosting.
many thanks.
Re: new bee question on flash
well, you do not actually have to use the html -
unless i am mistaken the html file only tells the browser what resolution to display the SWF.
you can upload JUST a swf to many game hosting sites like mochi, newgrounds, kongregate, and define the resolution during the upload process.
and if you used flashfx extension, you can set the game to auto resize to size of screen. most browsers can open an SWF file this way
Re: new bee question on flash
so if i add the flashfx extension i will only need to upload the swf file?
I am using the 640 x 480 settings.
I will have a look into this flashfx extension for a example of how to use it.
If i do figure it out, will i be able to add the new link to the file manager here in the swf forum?
Re: new bee question on flash
Get some free webhosting from somewhere (just google "free webhosting").
Sign up, then upload the files using there upload/FTP system to the server.
Access the html file, and away you go.
Re: new bee question on flash
I tried your suggestion SPIKE, im just learning so it may take some time to get the hang of all this new stuff.
thank you all for your help and mostly your patience.
