Corrupted Game

I was working hard on a small game in my spare time.
I was packing all the content into the first Frame, so that I wouldn't have to make multiple changes each time I adjusted something on each frame.
However my objects started to delete themselves and be replaced by broken objects. After fixing three of these MMF2 crashed when I attempted to save, and now I cannot open my game!

It returns the error:
"An error occured while loading frame #1.
Do you want to continue loading this application anyway?

If you answer Yes, this frame will be removed from the application."

Since removing Frame 1 would remove the entire game, I click "no" and get another error:

"Unknown Error opening unnamed game" (despite the game having a name)

Is there any way to recover the file? I didn't make multiple back up copies since it was just something I was playing with in my spare time, but I would still love to get the file fixed.

Unless you backed up your file there is no way to recover it.

So besides backing it up, is there any way to prevent this happening again in the future?

Most of the time when this happens it is not MMF2. Even a finger slip sometimes. One time we had a member coding 4 hours without a save/backup. That is asking for a MMF freakout.

I don't think I have any buttons my finger could slip to that would corrupt the game files. Deleting an object by mistake I could see, but making the game completely uneditable is a bit beyond a finger slip.
It's also clearly a problem with MMF2, one that I will work around by backing my games up more.

Also, what build of MMF2 do you use? Some users have reported corrupted files with old builds, not with recent builds. Also in the latest build the Automatic Backup option is automatically selected.

It says version 2.0.

I just updated it, but it still says Version 2.0...

The number that changes is the build number. It should say "2.0 (build #251)" (the original version is the build #239).

PS: the latest build won't be able to load your application either, in theory. It will just prevent the same thing from happening again. If you want me to take a look, send it to me (my e-mail address is in my profile), but I'm not sure if I can fix it.

Where are back ups saved?

If it's default on then it may have been enabled the whole time...

It's default in the latest builds only (either 249+ or 250+). backups are saved in the same directory as the MFA, with .001, .002, etc extensions.

All well, guess I'll start something new.
At least I learned a few neat tricks when I was messing around with that.
