As AdamDobay says, startup is very quick.
1 - Rearangable taskbar

You can also 'pin' standard programs to the taskbar by simply dragging and dropping programs ontoo the taskbar
2 - Freequently used programms
By right clicking on a programm in the taskbar, you are presented with a set of standard opperations for that program as well as a list of freequently used files/ visited web pages for that programm

This way you can very quickly and easily access your work and current projects.
3 - Taskbar contains 'all active programms', not all active windows.
Hoovering mouse over a programm, previews 'all active windows for that program'

This makes your taskbar a lot more tidy.
4 - Window previewing ( Aero Peak )
Hoovering mouse over a preview window, will show you only that window and hide all others ( effect ends when no longer hoovering over a preview window )

This makes searching and finding the exact documents/ windows you are looking for fast and easy.
5 - A standard 'show desktop button' is placed to the right of 'time and date' in the taskbar ( 'Winows button' + 'D' still works )
...
I dont claim to be a Windows expert, but theese are some of the things i find different and better in Windows 7 than in previous Windows versions.
