Point and Click adventure game inventory

Heya

Does anyone know of a point and click tutorial which includes an inventory system? I just want an inventory system that lets you combine items to create a new item and all the inventory tutorials are a little complicated for what I need.

If anyone knows of a tutorial that would be awesome :)

Hi Lucien. An inventory where you combine items would be more complicated than the tutorials you mention, and can't understand. It would be great is you just created a short, easy, inventory. I have some inventory systems on my website. Look for Zoric or Under Nivram.

I have registered 3 products here and I still have nightmares....

I have been working on this same idea..
i came up with something that works.. but still messing around to see what works best.

basically you create an active object that can be a simple red square lets call this active-10, say 100x100 pixels in size
next you allow the user to drag/drop the necessary items onto of this square/combine area, lets call these items active-1 and active-2

then when they click the combine button you check for the events like this;

if active-1 and active-2 are overlapping active-10 and button is clicked
-> destroy active-1
-> destroy active-2
-> create/ or turn visible active-3 or what ever the new item is.

now there is a problem here..
if they drag and drop lets say 10 inventory items into the combine area.. then multiple items can be created.. to prevent this, you may need to check for the count of items in an area to make sure it does not exceed the necessary number.. you can user counters to restrict the amount of items in the combine are etc.

hope this helps. mess around with it, it's a pain if you want to setup a LOT of combines since there are so many checks.. i am hoping the beta inventory extension will grow to include this ability within itself.
