Figured I'd start a thread for any AdMob questions... and start it with one of my own!

Where exactly can I find my Device ID?
Answered by Stephen: Your test device ID is displayed in DDMS when you run an ad-enabled application. Look for the line that says something like: "To get test ads on this device, call adRequest.addTestDevice("8848448sadsfa8ad8f8fda")"

So I've set up my AdMob account, enabled Ads in my app, and input the AdMob ID (listed as Publisher ID on the AdMob site, right?). I selected "Display Ad" in one of my frames, but when I test the app, no Ad shows up, test ad or otherwise.

Your real AdMob ID you get from AdMob when you register and add an application. Keep in mind it takes time for things to update (30 minutes or more sometimes) on AdMob.

What do you make of this: "Could not find com.google.ads.AdActivity"

Also, does this look like the correct format for an AdMob ID: a14f5555x555555

And did you mean AdMob ID, not Device ID in your last sentence?

Sorry to bump, but if i want to change the ad position how can i do that?

Looks like only Top and Bottom is available for Ad positioning (in application settings where you enable the ads). Do you have your Ads working btw?

i have a problem because, when i try to install the application the installation RUN, but At the end said "the application is not installed", i am checking what coould it be.

I checked and I cannot make release build, it is created but when i try to install, always come back saying that "the application is not installed".

What could it be, because i dont get any error during building process.

i forgot to say that i am using the following line to make the certificates and password, just increase a little more the days thats all.

keytool -genkey -v -keystore C:\Users\fernando\Documents\G2F2_Certificate.keyst ore -alias XXXXXX -storepass xxxxxxxx -keyalg RSA -keysize 2048 -validity 25000

Just to let you know why i could not install the release build in my tablet.


Seems that the SET_ALWAYS_FINISH permission was the problem

Working now, except "Display ad on bottom of the screen" doesn't display an ad at all.

Also, is there any way to have multiple Test Device ID's?

Beta 22 still will not display ads on the bottom of the screen.

I also have a suggestion:

Along with being able to display Ads on the top or bottom of the screen, how about adding options for how the screen is altered to fit the ad on it? Such as having the Ad layered over the app, "squishing" the app (changing aspect ratio), shrinking/zooming out of the app (no change in aspect ratio), or resizing the app's window frame. Is this doable?

The presence of an ad just changes the available screen size to the application (in a similar way to the status bar). So any of the application properties for resizing, keeping the aspect ratio, etc should work as normal.

But i saw other games where the "ad" is in the middle of the top or the botton screen and they are on top of the game, is that posible?

The trouble with the ad overlapping the game is that you can't determine how large the ad is going to be at edittime (it depends on the device pixel density etc)

Sorry to answer late!

Yes you are right in the past the android devices did not answer correctly their DPI, but it still doing now?, i though that changed after android 3.2.

Also i have some point to kindly ask:


In the Android Object

1.- Can you add the functionality in the expression to read the screen DPI.

2.- Maybe you can add also an expression to read the language of the tablet to make possible to make multilanguage menus, dialog, etc..


concerning admob

If you can create a admob object (just like mochi)

1.- That we can define the period or frequency for refreshing the ads inside an application instead of using the one defined in the web page.

2.- Set the origin (no the size so far, i have a game almost done and it is very annoying to watch how it is resizing all the time you reach to the frame that will show the ad.

I start to see this work when was beta 6 (i think) and now is getting better and better.

The only thing that only remain to say, is how can i help you?


PD: don´t forget to post the android sdk when you can, so far the extension that i want to port right now is the basic extension .

I don't get the test AdMob working. With the app Device ID I've got the ID of my tablet. This I filled in by the test admob device, checked enable adds.
What do I have to check more? Do I have to run something from de cmd first?

You need to sign up for an AdMob account and fill in your ID from that.

Made an Adob account, got an ID and AdMob appears in my game. The only thing now is that my game doesn't work anymore because it pushes down my screen.
