Anybody have any thoughts on to how to create a slot machine in MMF? I was thinking about trying to make a slot machine mini game, but wondering if anybody has ever tried to do this before.

Here's an open source for Video Poker that Jeff made from the site here. I'm sure this will help you out.

I can imagine you can create a sloth machine wheel with X number of Items/ Images by using only 3 Active Object ( wich possitio relative to eachother and change their Yscale ) with X number of animations.
One of my first projects was a slot machine type of thing. I used an animation to do the spinning wheels, though I'm not sure i still have those files. I have to work tomorrow, but I'll try to get something up on this to demo that concept.
not sure what you mean
Cool! That would be awesome.
UnicornP, do you have graphics that you will be using, such as cherries, bar, etc. If you could send me those, i can customize my anim for you
I'm pretty sure I had to zip this folder to make sure the images would come along. Its a rough concept, but basically, i have a button that when clicked, starts a roller animation. When that animation is done, then i show 3 actives, all of which had a random frame chosen to show either a cherry, plum or bar. I'm open to comments on how i could have achieved this technique in a better way.
I think it works pretty well. Be cool as it's spinning at a certain time before stopping,.it slows down then stops. Nice example though and I think if it was added to, it would be a cool game.
Now that I'm home, I'm working on a little bit better version of this. Can someone tell me why I can't make my button transparent so the arm doesnt block out the body of the slot machine?
Click on the arm to bring it up in the picture editor and click on the button that looks like a fish, then click the transp color button, then select "yes" It should take out the white color around the arm.
Thanks KlikIt, that worked better than clicking on the grayed out transparency check box in properties.
Np rubrs!
There is a complete working slot machine example that came with MMF that I just found.
I am not finding this under examples. I have developer, what directory are you looking in and what's the title?
Here ya go! I think this uses a better system of how the graphics are selected. You can make your owe out of this with a little work and also add in a few things to make it work for you.

I'll check this out after work. The system i was working on over the weekend is pretty sweet, but limited to the graphics and animation i was using. I am curious to see how they deal with the rollers. If you didn't know already, KlikIt, you rock
I'm probably biased, but I like my animated rollers better. I will post what i have tonight or thursday. This does seem to answer one of my questions, which is if i wanted to calculate payouts, would that be a whole slew of if/then type conditions and it appears to be.
Looking forward to seeing it.

Here's the slot machine with spinning wheels that end at different intervals, have motion blur and slow down and actually roll up to the selected graphic. If someone can modify this so it only uses one animation and alters the timing on that to achieve the 3 different durations of spin, i would be much obliged.
Hope you like and feel free to build a game around this or use as you like
Looks really good now Rubes. Now you have to figure out pay off for each fruit and bar and coins to put in the machine to make it all work. Some flashing lights would be great too. Nice job so far...
That's for UnicornP to figure out, KliKiT, this was something i was doing early on for a different reason, but when UnicornP asked, i knew i had some things to share. I've got a few irons in the fire, but I don't spend enough consistant time in the app with everything in the rest of life happening around me as well. Glad you like and as i mentioned earlier, anyone who wants to use this, feel free. A mention of me would be nice if you do, but have at it...
Oh this is funny. This thread lived on for a time. I remember posting this question a year ago, then my girlfriend broke up with me and I all but stopped game making for a year. Just getting back into this now. I will have to check out this slot machine build and see if I can continue my old game. Thanks for replying!
This thing is awesome! Might have to bring my game back from the dead now :-)
