I've been trying to create a game where you use the arrow keys to move a ball into an area, while collecting little goodies of course, I've been using Box 2D to create a good looking rotation of the ball. Unfortunately, I don't know how to make it move... I've tried applying force and stuff in Box 2D, but that doesn't work, at least the way I'm doing it... Please help!
The Chipmunk examples had a platformer, you could grab some advice from there - the basic concepts will be the same. Which Box2D are you using? The old one or the v2.0.0?

Have you set the Density to 1 or above when creating the Box2d object? If it is set to 0 the object will always remain static.
Yeah I already set that up.
I've set all the basics up with creating a body and such, but this is what I'm doing for movement:
Upon pressing Right Arrow Key, Create Constant Acceleration Force 5,0, Add Controller 0 to Active 1.
All this does is make it zoom to the other side of the screen... Can someone tell me how to correct my programming?
Ok, never mind, after experimenting, I found how to make a create a rotating ball and a basic movement, but it still looks bad...

I need to sleep for a bit now so I did just a quick look at your file and fixed up some small things. It is important to see where you put the hotspot. Generally it is good to place it in the middle when dealing with physics objects if possible. That way you can leave the x and y origin at 0. For your ground object for example the hotspot was in the up left corner of the object so I had to push the shape in and down by 16 in the events to counter this. Also make sure the physical shape is the same as the actual object. For example the physical diameter in your example for the ball was 38, but the diameter of the ball you used had a diameter of 32. It may sound complicated, but it is actually very logical as soon as you got the basics down. Have you looked at the testbed examples?

Yes actually, I did look at it, that's where my inspiration for my game started! I wanted something with Box 2D, I had never used it, so why not! Thanks for your help!!!!!!!!!! :)

XStar, I looked at Outcasts example and I have to say, it's awesome! If you want the ball to stay in the playfield, You have to set one more event. "Start Of frame" Here's his example with it added. Hope it is some use for you?
I PM-ed outcast about it being used in Flash and haven;t heard back yet. If he can make an example for flash of this engine it would be very useful. His example doesn't work in the Flash exporter. :(

Its supposed to be able to run in Flash :) Looki ported box2d to the Flash exporter. Now we just need to have someone port it to iOS to :/Quote:

That is really strange, also you dont find it in the extension view? I just looked right now and typed in box2d and it shows up... your computer does not seem to like you very much or I dont know what is wrong :PQuote:

I downloaded the new version and still the same thing. Infact,.when starting a new app,.it's not even available for flash builds in the objects window.
Is Developer different than MMF standard or something. It should work.

Outcast. where is the download for the flash version. That is probably why it's not working and showing up in my objects in flash builds.
Ok, figured it out. I was missing the .dat file in the MMF flash folder. I installed it from looki's site and it's working now.
