Issues with recording sub-applications

I've been running by game exclusively within a sub-application because there's less slowdown when resizing the window this way. Unfortunately, ever since this change many of our players have been unable to record playthroughs of the game. Their recording software will work fine up until a frame transition, at which point the game's display becomes solid black or solid white. The game does not exhibit this problem as long as no recording software is used.

Is there a way around this issue?
