quick way to create a temporary value and then destroy it - values limit in MMF

As some of you already know fusion has a limitation in the number of value variables you can attach to an object.
And I find this limitation is creating an issue for me right now- as I need to a temporary value for each object type that is being counted with a loop. It adds to it on a loop cycle when counting. Then the result is being moved to another variable and the temporary value is no longer needed.

Is there a way in fusion to use a temporary value that is not attached to any object? Use it and then forget about it?
The number of object types I have in the game is more than the number of values that can be attached to an object. And I am storing the object count in an ini file anyways.
Its the temporary value that bothers me.

The loop cycle object counting doesnt work when trying to create it and add to it when in the ini object for some reason.

Sure. Simply use a counter for each value you need to temporarily store. You can use another counter to store the fixed id of the current object in the loop, to easily tell which object the stored values belong to.

Example?

When the loop runs, it needs to write to many temporary values. More than the number you can have attached to an object.

I might be able to do this my storing these temporary values in an external ini file instead - the same where I store data about the objects that are being scanned

Can you give a concrete and simple example of what you're trying to do? What is stored, when is it stored and when is it used again?

That's wrong. Since one of the last builds you have unlimited number of Alterable Value for each object. You can simply access them via their index number at runtime.
But at edit time in the Frame Editor you just can set the Alterable Values from A - Z.

I got it to work by using an the ini object, but this new information is definitely going to be handy !

You can access unlimited Alterable Values:

• Condition: Object > Alterable Values > Compare to one of the alterable values > Use expression (enter or calculate the index)
• Action: Object > Alterable Values > Set > Use expression (enter or calculate the index)
• Expression: Object > Values > Alterable value by index

Very simple. Isn't too hard to find? :o

I don't think that will happen in Fusion 2.5. Hopefully in Fusion 3 and without the fixed order of the variables in the Frame Editor.
But it's planed to include also unlimited Alterable Strings in one of the next builds.

since writing to and reading from an ini file is slower (as Snail pointed out in another thread), I might have to move my ini temporary value creation back to the object i was using before, but instead use the value ID to point to the value. A bit silly of me to write to an ini file during a loop that scans many objetcs. So this new feature/removal of a limitation in fusion that you pointed out is going to be handy in this case!

That said I am really looking forward to Fusion 3, which will hopefully take care of some of the pet peeves in this version :)

The fix order being one of them. Same applies for the locking of ids everywhere I think.
Changing order/deleting or adding frames changes their IDs. Same for layers. Animation sequences, etc. Its all a bit locked down right now

Btw the index is 0-based, right?
