Graphics problem in Fusion2.5

Hi,
I have tried every which way to get my button graphics to display correctly in Fusion 2.5 alas, without success.
I upgraded to 2.5 but have not used it yet because of this problem. Have been using MMF2 instead :(

The .png alpha does not display the transparency, instead it displays the background colour which should be transparent.
Funny thing is these same buttons display just fine in MMF2dev.

I have tried recreating my buttons in other graphics programs and even updated my graphics drivers as well as selecting different display modes.

Is this a bug or can someone please help me, I really would like to use my Fusion 2.5 :)

did you import the graphic or just copy and paste it in to Fusion?

I imported it into fusion as a button. If I import it as an active it works fine so I think the problem is with the button ext. I tried both bouton and button.

The app was created in MMF2 and when opened in Fusion it displays the buttons with the background as mentioned.

I see plenty views but only one response and I am wondering if this is a bug.

Should I report it?

As mentioned I really would like to use Fusion and not MMF2. Also I cannot see myself rewriting (clicking ;) ) my entire program to change my buttons from the button extension to actives just to be able to finish my program in Fusion. There are 25 buttons in all!

Its not a train smash if I have to use MMF2 to finish it, but you may want to know about the bug if it is one.

OK I messed around a bit more and discovered that the problem is with shadows from a .png image.
I created some new test images and tried the with and without shadows in Fusion. I works fine without shadows but always shows the shadow as the 'transparent colour.

Did you notice that you have shadows on your pic which don't show up on the example.
I imported your pics into a test app and I still get the 'transparent colour' as a background. Very messy. When I change the background on your example I get the same messy results.

A further bit of info. It displays correctly in the frame editor but not when you run the program...

But thanks for trying... If you can figure this out that would be great.

This sounds very strange. Could you link to one of the buttons graphics? Have you tried to just do a new clean application and imported them as an active to check if they work there?

Yes, It is very strange... and yes I have tried it in a clean application. The actives don't have a problem, only the button ext.

Hmm it was no problem for me. It should not be a problem. Are you sure you have not crossed any strange option when importing the picture?

Oh sorry, you meant as a button hmm. I would actually just use actives if I where you and do buttons with an active instead. You can just use events like , clicking on the active, or mouse over active etc.

Its too late to be considering rewriting (clicking) the application. Everything is set up and attached to those buttons. It would take far too long to unlink and remove them... then recreate the program with actives. :(

But yeah, If I had known about this bug beforehand I would have used actives as you suggest. I created most of the program in MMF2 (no problems there at all!) and did not expect this to happen when I upgraded to Fusion.

I should probably report this as a bug?

Yes if it works in MMF it sounds like a bug in Fusion

Buttons do not support the Alpha Channel. Never got this to work. You need to use Actives for those buttons.

I feel that we are getting closer to an answer here. But recreating those buttons is simply out of the question as actives work with entirely different methods and I am not up to recoding the entire program.

If buttons do not support the alpha channel, then the buttons should not work in MMF either, right? But they do work in MMF without any problems!?

So if I understand this correctly then the alpha channel for the button ext is supported in MMF but not in Fusion??

If this is the case, will the button ext be updated to support the alpha channel for Fusion??

I am still at a loss here.

It seems to me then if others have the same problem with alpha channels in the button ext in Fusion it should be fixed. It is such a useful and basic requirement.

I have MMF installed too and it does not work for me. I tried just 2 minutes ago.

Here is a workaround:

If the background of those buttons do not change at all, you can simply render the image and export it as BMP. Open up the file in any program and take a screenshot (print key) then CTRL+V the image into your button option and make sure there is no alpha channel at all. Crop and resize to your needs and this will work. It will of course not work if you have a scrolling frame and the background behind those buttons change.

You need to play with the transparency color. Choose one color that is not in your image. If my active objects have a lot of yellowish colors in it, then I usually pick a different color as transparency color.

No problemo! Keep it up!

It is best to use an active for what you want, and use a 'If clicked on object' event, as the active as the object. Button can be easier but you can't change the graphics, I guess.

I think its a bug with the windows build option. I created an android application with bitmap buttons and the alpha channels look fine.

It's a known issue, the Button object in "Bitmap button" mode don't support alpha channel (it was reported in the bug box some time ago http://bugbox.clickteam.com/issues/1942). I think this is not easy to fix, but there is a workaround, you can use Active System Box objects instead (check the Button option in their settings).

It works in MMF2 in standard display mode, but it doesn't work in MMF2 in Direct3D mode.

It no longer works in CF 2.5 in standard display mode as we dropped the old non-Direct3D versions of the extensions.

Better use an Active System Box for bitmap buttons if possible.
