And I couldn't resist...if you go in to battle when it's bad weather...the enemies can also get hit by lightning and lose a little hp. Those who are not immune also have a 50% chance of becoming stunned for a while. I thought it was kind of cool if the bad weather also could affect enemies and be somewhat helpful for the player :D
But there's even more to it :D (Sorry for posting like this but I can't update the post. I really wish there was no time limit for editing your posts) But ok...if you find the schematics you will be able to build a device that you can throw at an enemy and if a thunder strike occurs, the lightning will be attracted to that device and if you have a high tech+crafting skill, that device will absorb more and more lightning and will be able to generate quite a devastating strike. You will only be able to keep one at a time though and it can only be used once in battle but it is a pretty cool feature I think and quite unique. There might be other cool uses for that device too ;)
Just a random update! Here's a screenshot of my latest work :D

and also, here's a small teaser sequence. I will only tell you this. What you are about to encounter there is NOT nice! ;D (Might load a little slow)

Oh and like i said before. I have added rain and thunder to the game now that will start/stop at random. Lightning can also hurt you if it strikes down but it can also hurt the enemies in battles if you are lucky!
You will also be able to craft a device that will attract the lightning. If you throw that device at an enemy it will be a guaranteed hit if a strike occurs. The device deals more damage if you have a high crafting and Tech skill.
Enemies who are not immune can also, if you're lucky, become stunned for a while by the lightning strike. A pretty cool feature I think. I didn't like that the stormy weather only caused negative effects. You should be able to benefit from it somewhat as well :)
I think I told you also that there will be some secret areas to find in the game. First I was thinking that there won't be any paths showing the exits to those areas so you must search hard when you're out and exploring. However, that could make some people never find those places I worked so hard on to create :D so I compromised. If you find a compass and are standing near the exit to a secret area, an arrow will show up and point towards the exit. I guess that's all for now. I hope you like the new pieces I'm showing.
Uff...I'm gonna take a little break from this game now! I've been working very hard on it for a year now and I need a short pause. I still want to create games though so I'm having a secondary project I work on when I need a break...nothing serious just something to keep my creativity going. I'm not gonna give up on this RPG so don't worry...I think a pause can be good because then I will have the batteries recharged and can jump back in with new inspiration :)
I'm with you, brains sometimes need taking a pause from huge projects, it always happens.
Charge your cells and you'll be back with still better ideas :)
Yeah so true!! Thanks I hope so :-D
Yeah, it's bound to happen at some point. Working on huge projects will drain your energy, and you have to consider your own health and wellness, so that you won't get burned out :)
Yeah! Your project can't feel like a chore because then you will have no fun while working on it! :)
Ok so I took a 4 month pause from this game. I really needed it (I did some work on my other non-serious project, a wild west cartoony game) now I feel the urge to resume working on Earth:Anarchy again so here are some fresh grisly screenies :D They are pretty violent so if there are sensitive people around you or if you are in a place where this would be inappropriate you have been warned :)

cool to see you back in action on this project,
pause recharged your inspiration bringing some nasty gory scenes ;D
Thanks :-D yeah this quest have some nasty gore but i will not infest the game with that stuff because you will get bored/used to it...and the effect will be lost but every now and then there will be that stuff of course ;-D
Any progress on this? There aren't too many isometric games made with Fusion, so I would love to see this project finished some day. Those bird's eye shots look really atmospheric.
Well I am stressed out because of this monster project. I do consider it my main project and really want to finish this game. The problem is that I probably took a muuuch bigger bite than I can chew...but the game features a lot of what you expect to find in a free roaming game (as free roaming as I can make it. You're free to go wherever you want but some areas will be impossible to complete if you're to weak) You can kill every person you meet if you feel like it. You can do this and that and have complete freedom when you level up your character. You get skillpoints and assign them however you want.
Every NPC has it's own short backstory that you can read in the menu. you can create items/weapons etc. All the items you'll be able to use in battles are already coded even if you can't get them yet so grenades, rocket launcher etc is already working) but still...It feels like I have done NOTHING haha...there's still a million things to do. building the World and quests is the biggest work now I guess. I have also learned Fusion better since i began this game so it annoys me a little that i must keep doing things the harder way but it beats starting over for sure :D
I was working on a quest (And it's still not finished) when suddenly i came up with more cool ideas...so I made that weather thing. Random thunder and rain and sometimes, it's acid rain that hurts you if you're outside....Lightning can strike and hurt you...but in battles it can also hit the enemies if you're lucky so there is an upside to it. you'll be able to build a device that attracts the Lightning as well so throw it at an enemy feet and it will feel PAIN!!! :D Also the game has an unbelievable heavy mood so sometimes I feel damn depressed when I work on it haha. I do want to finish it and I have done a lot things already and my tester for this game is deep in love with the game and is so happy whenever he gets a new version to toy around with. The few others that tried the game also like it very much so that is a good reason to carry on but I can't find the strength for it right now. I did a few screens though just a few weeks ago and I think if i can just finish this eyegouching quest with those freaks, things will look brighter again.
Thank you! I'm glad you're showing interest! It adds a little to my "Start working on Earth:Anarchy" Lifebar :D
I guess I should at least show this so you all can see that there is still some life in this project (Even though death has a strong presence in most of the graphics hehe)

Hey, I've been working on an RPG in Fusion as well, and I can sympathize with you that while it's not easy and requires great planning, designing every aspect is soooo rewarding.
Let's keep it up!
You're absolutely right! I'm also doing all the music so there is even more work haha. your game looks really crisp and nice btw :)
Ha ha, thanks. I was going to do all the music myself, too, until I realized the opportunity cost was just too high because I can produce more art and tech design. But there's that fulfilling feeling of taking down a beast of a project all by yourself and looking back, smiling at every single detail you have put in.
This looks pretty promising cant wait!
How did I manage to miss this?! I'm loving the amount of work you're putting in. It's great to see such ambition.
I'm a big fan of post-apocalyptic stuff. Margaret Atwood and Paolo Bacigalupi are pretty much my two favourite authors, and Fallout 3 is one of my favourite games ever. So I'm definitely keeping my eye on this!
Thanks 4evo and Volnaiskra. It's great to hear those comments! I still need a break from this though. I put soooo much energy in this that I'm completely drained. I will not give up on it though I just don't want to rush it and end up not being satisfied. I'm just completely stuck right now and need to get some perspective on it. At the moment I feel like puking almost when I think about this game and all the work that's left haha. :D I hope I can return to this soon because it is really stressing me out that i don't work on it when I have done so much already.
I know how you feel! Take a break, but don't leave it too long! If you do, you might never return to it. That's been my experience, anyway. Or if you do take a long break, make an agreement with yourself about when you'll return. I took a long break last year from Spryke - about 3 full months. I played through the Witcher 3, Arkham Knight, and some other games - I'd almost forgotten what it was like to actually play games rather than make one XD
RIP. Earth:Anarchy...I'm afraid this game will not happen. Thank you everyone for showing interest and giving me compliments about it :-) I'm feeling quite sad considering how much work I've put into this...a working battleengine, a cool level up system that lets you decide completely how to build your character, item creation and the freedom for the player to play the game how they want and so on. 1,5 year wasted.... :-(
Sorry to hear that :(
I would say that's not wasted time, you've surely gathered lot of experience in making this.
With RPGs it's quite frequent from what I've seen (and experienced XD)
it's hard to keep pushing on all the extremely long time it takes to complete one,
there's a huge amount of things to do - and more so if you're only one developer.
EA looks/looked great,
if it's indeed canceled - then I'm looking forward for your next projects :)
Thanks a lot buddy! Well you are right about experience. I have learned much since i began and I realise how much stupid code that game has.IF I ever touch this again it will need a real overhaul and that makes me almost feel more sick to the stomach than I already do...redoing everything...BAH! I will not feel any inspiration for that I'm afraid XD
Any plan to at least release what you have so far? I'd be interested, it's always cool to see fusion games in any state

No I don't think I will do that. Only my playtester has it and it pains me to tell him about this because he absolutely love the game and always go crazy with joy whenever he gets a new version to try out hehe
I hope so. I really do :-)
Recreating things is one of the keys to great work! Every single time a crash or system failure forces me to redo something, I end up improving it. I still hate redoing it, but I'm always glad in retrospect.
One of the most artistically accomplished films of the 20th century, Andrei Tarkovsky's "Stalker" (also post-apocalyptic) is, I believe, as good as it is because Tarkovsky finished it, then lost the entire film in a fire, and had to redo everything. None of his other films come close to Stalker, in my opinion. Probably cause he only made them once!
That was a positive little kick in the behind to read that. I Think you're on to something there. Remaking stuff is the most boring thing but if that means you improve it, then it's all worth it. The only thing that really needs remaking is the battlesystem. It works perfectly fine in its current form but it is sooo messy and I began working on a different rpg instead and when doing the battlesystem for that (Still turn based) I made it so much better. This new Engine loads enemies randomly, also the amount of enemies you face off against (1-3) Eenemies can already attack you, cast a few spells on you, cast heal on themselves when needed, you can use a few inventory items etc and all that works perfect with less than 300 events. Of course there's more to be done but I already got that much stuff working. I can add more enemies without adding more events now just by adding animations in the enemy objects. Then they attack and get hurt etc without me having to do anything except for adding some text in some listboxes. That's how it should've been done in EA but I've learned a lot more since i began that project and now i realise how stupid a lot of the code isf XD
Sad to see this fade away. You should do some smaller prototype projects to refresh and then see if you got the energy to remake it. Maybe in smaller portions?
Thanks :) Well hopefully I can return to this mess one day XD
Wow...it's been more than a year since I posted here. I was quite upset to leave this project but as I learned more about Fusion the more I realised how stupid I did certain things. I just left it all...until...NOW
I've been thinking about it so much during this time and now I feel that enough time has passed. I have done a huge overhaul. I decided to just throw it all out and start from scratch. There are a few reasons for this actually but the main reason is that I don't want turnbased fighting. To be honest, I didn't want that to begin with but I had no idea how to get decent pathfinding to work but thanks to a good friend (You know who you are ;D ) It will feature realtime fighting like in any action-RPG you know. It will also be changed from isometric to top down perspective, I LOVE isometric view but it means more work. It's a one man project so I try to cut corners as much as I can. The art style and the story is still the same of course!
Here's something to look at for now.

The way those freaks come after you really makes it feel more intensive
Got a short clip here, quality is not the best but at least something non-static to look at and I think real time combat fits the game much better :)

Please keep working with this. I need it. Good job.

Thanks man! I will. It was the former battle system that completely put me off. Now I'm delighted to work on this again :-D
